Man Busted In Drive-By Zebra Shooting

(AP)  An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday and accused of killing a zebra named Zambi in a drive-by shooting.

Zambi was shot dead July 5 as he grazed in a pasture at HiView Farms outside of Waxahachie, about 30 miles from Dallas, said Lt. Kevin Ketchum of the Ellis County Sheriff's Office. The farm is also home to camels, llamas and ring-tailed lemurs.

The owner of the farm was outside working at the time of the shooting, Ketchum told The Dallas Morning News.

Joshua Romano and four friends were swimming in a creek but had to leave because of rain. They spotted the zebra as they were driving down a road near the farm. That's when Romano pulled out a deer rifle and shot Zambi dead, Ketchum said. The animal was worth about $10,000.

Romano's friends tried to prevent him from shooting the zebra, and the driver sped up to make the shooting more difficult, Ketchum said.

No phone listing for Romano could be found.

Ladies and gentlemen, the next Texan president of the United States!

He has as much "class" as the scum currently in the White House, so he should be a shoo in.

He needs to pay $10,000 plus for what he has done and have 3 years of mandatory professional help before he starts doing his drive byes on people. Otherwise he will be another lost soul in our jail system. He's still young enough to save at 18. He needs to believe what he did is wrong and the true value of life. I think that's just part of the why. I know what he did is totally wrong but I'm sure most of us have done something wrong at least once in our life. Maybe not to that extent. Maybe you learned from it and didn't get caught. He did.

another reason why more people should be vegan
there is a large imbalance of how all animals and wildlife are treated in this and other countries
locally speaking there was recently a person who ran right over a mother duck and her family right in front of other traffic without even trying to avoid them. And it happened right in front of a large poultry slaughter house!!

I agree with all of the other posts. This kind of story breaks my heart. This idiot person clearly has no respect for life, and he should not be allowed to roam free. I hope the courts take this one seriously; the killing, or harming, of an innocent animal indicates that something is really WRONG with this person. And to the owner of Hi View Farms, I am so sorry that this happened to Zambi.
