Interactive Safe Rides State-by-state amusement park ride inspection rules.
The lawsuit, which also alleges negligence in inspecting and testing the ride, asks for a temporary injunction to prevent the park from altering or destroying the ride and a cable that investigators believe cut off the girl's feet.
Randall and Monique Lasitter, of Louisville, filed the lawsuit on behalf of 13-year-old Kaitlyn Lasitter, who remained hospitalized Thursday in good condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., The Courier-Journal reported.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. It claims that Kaitlyn has suffered permanent injury and severe emotional pain and that her ability to earn money has been impaired.
Doctors at Vanderbilt reattached Kaitlyn's right foot after the June 21 accident but couldn't save the left.
Carolyn McLean, a spokeswoman for the theme park, declined comment Thursday night and said she hadn't seen the lawsuit. The Lasitters said through a Vanderbilt spokesman that they had no comment.

- thats a shame that she lost both feet, but in my belief, i think that the six flags management should take the Superman ride down once and for all so (most likely) this won't happen again.

I don't know about going to hell, but you won't be collecting any literary awards anytime soon.
They say the test of a good sense of humor is being able to laugh at yourself. Would you have spent as much time drafting your "amusing prose" if it was you, or a member of your family, who was involved in this horrific event? - Reply to this comment
- Zootallures2, I've read your post and have decided there are only three possible explanations:
1) inebriation / intoxication
2) ESL
3) psychotic anti-Americanism
American military personnel are not killing the Muslim children of Iraq and Afghanistan. Other *Muslims* are killing the Muslim children of Iraq and Afghanistan.
And do I have to remind anyone that, prior to the October 2001 U.S. invasion, the misanthropic Taliban forbade Afghan children to even *fly kites?* Putting aside Iraq, only a seriously damaged mind would deny America's chivalrous intent in Afghanistan.
CBS, before you delete this post -- and I suspect you will -- make sure you go back and delete the post precipitating my remarks. After all, it was Zootallures2 who impossibly related the tragic incident at Six Flags to America's foreign policy. I fear you are giving voice to a keyboard jihadist. - Reply to this comment
- Obviously, Kaitlyn deserves major damages from Six Flags. So sorry to hear that both feet weren't reattached. I have definitely had her in my thoughts. Hopefully, the one foot can be rehabilitated to be functional to help with her mobility in using a prosthesis on the opposing side. I just feel terrible that she has to go through all the emotional pain of all of this. I just don't understand why innocent kids have to get hurt like this.

- Insurance and lawsuits.... just goes to show that humans cannot willingly accept responsiblity and balance justice. So you made these systems instead of facing the real problem. It is amazing that people would accept horrible pysical pain over changing thoughts in your heads. Does your brains really hurt that much to adjust emotions or face reality? What about the children in Iraq and Afghanastan who never even wanted a ride in the US Military amusement park?

- Lard, you crack me up. Nice piece of writing too, at least, a step in the right direction. Sometimes its good to have a little fun, and kick out the blues.
Good day to you. - Reply to this comment
- Anyone remember when a fat person fell from a standup roller coaster in Ohio when it went into the loop? It's BOTH their faults. The fat person who should have known they couldn't fit safely in the ride and the ride attendant for allowing the fat person to get on in the first place.
But in this case, well we'll need more details on the situation before we can make a final verdict as to who the "dee dee dee" is in this case. - Reply to this comment
- I was wrong, three of the gang members were employees of Six Flags.

- Last week there was a teenager in Atlanta who was attacked by a gang while leaving Six Flags and beaten into a coma. Two of the gang members involved in the beating were employees of Six Flags over Georgia.

- Nancy and Superchez , you both should think before you touch that keyboard, what if this were your child, or even worse, YOU? Would you be so heartless as to write those words and laugh at the tragedy then?

- Kentucky? 13-year old?
Better put it in a Trust or it'll all go into a new trailer.

Nancy needs to visit Louisville...Kaitlyn's hometown. There is a nice spot for people like Nancy in downtown Louisville. It's called The Infield at Churchill Downs...where people like her are seldom seem and cannot be heard.
What is Nancy's commentary towards the teen that switched seats with Kaitlyn and nearly suffered the same fate? - Reply to this comment
- Superchez1 you are truly a piece of sh*t.

- Nancy_Naive ,you really ARE naive, as well as a complete idiot. You seem to be under the misguided impression that everyone in KY lives in trailers. Nothing could be farther from the truth. You might be interested to know, as I can see that your knowledge and intelligence is severely lacking, that their are ppl who live in trailers all over the US, not just KY. However, just because someone lives in a trailer does not make them any less worthy than someone who lives in a mansion.
To make a stereotypical joke about a child who was so gruesomely injured is not only in bad taste, its inhumane. Obviously, your self esteem is so low that you feel the need to put down others to make yourself feel more important. You would have benefitted from being raised in KY where children are taught manners and compassion. Your parents obviously did you and injustice in that department. - Reply to this comment
- The very best of Luck to the Lassiter family in seeking justice against Six Flags Inc. Kaitlyn's future was snuffed out by human negligence of the lowest kind. Six Flags should drop the ridiculous quest to make people ill or damaged so that they
can create "insane" mechanized rides to impress themselves. Sock it to them for a couple hundred mil, then maybe they'll think more clearly about what family entertainment needs to be vs. the adolescent *** thay call "thrill rides" now. - Reply to this comment

- Whether its this, or medical malpractice, or whatever, there is someone scratching someone elses back, to keep from having to pay, or allow any appropiate regulation, already set in place, to protect those of us who pay these ridiculous prices, fees, etc.
There is no policing, and as long as we keep tolerating this (because of fear of higher prices), then it will continue. Regulations are necessary, and we need to put more capital in enforcing them. - Reply to this comment
After all is said and done 13-year-old Kaitlyn Lasitter should be the new owner of Six Flags.- Reply to this comment
