Rosie Not Relocating For "Price" Job

By
Amy Bonawitz
(CBS)  It looks like Rosie O'Donnell's next gig won't be on "Price Is Right." In a video message on her blog Sunday O'Donnell said it looked like a deal with the game show "ain't gonna happen."

In the video blog, O'Donnell responded to questions fans and foes wrote to her on her blog. One writer asked, why is it such a problem that the "Price Is Right" shoots in L.A.?

"Well, here's the thing, I don't really need a job," O'Donnell said. "I'm in a weird position. I don't need the money. I know you're not allowed to talk about money in America but I'm just saying I don't so, to get my entire family uprooted from their lives and move them across the country so that I can have a fantasy childhood indulgent job, it just doesn't seem fair, they all are in school, they have friends, we love their school, our community our house, our life, our home."

O'Donnell said that if the California-based show moved east, things would be different. "You know, if they were able to do it in New York, it would be a different story but it looks like it ain't gonna happen," she said.

O'Donnell had been mentioned as one of the successors to recently retired host Bob Barker. "The Early Show's" Dave Price and "Dancing With The Stars" alum John O'Hurley are some of the other names that have been mentioned for the job.

I would love to see Ellen Degeneres host the Price Is Right. She is never condescending to anyone she interviews--and has the most hillarious, self deprecating sense of humor. It would be so much fun to see the PIR show start off everyday with her dancing through the audience.

Why does a person who CLEARLY dislikes people want to apply for that kind of job anyway?

That decision makes me happy, because she is an obnoxious loudmouth. I think the best replacement would be Richard Karn (Al from Home Improvement and previous host of Family Feud). I think he would be great. If they wanted to choose a woman, I think Kelly Rippa or Ellen DeGeneres would make good choices. All three of these choices are based on personality.

I don't agree with the gay lifestyle, but that doesn't factor into this decision necessarily unless the person is obnoxious and tries to shove it in your face, like Rosie. Ellen has a much better personality than Rosie does and I think she would be a good game show host, regardless of her personal lifestyle.

It sure would be nice if people could enter comments without bad language; but they must not be able to do without since they devise ways to write the "f" word or other cursewords to get around the filters.

It is a shame that people are criticizing Rosie for having Family Values!

Whatever else you may feel about Rosie, she's always been a great role model for focused parenting. Good for her for recognizing that her children's stability is more important than a paycheck.

Remember tv is for entertaining all levels and also programs some of them have done well by keeping it safe and clean without a lot of negative talk. I am glad Rosie did not get the Price is Right the person who gets that position should be some one that has a healthy love for the public and not just one sector of the world.

GOD BLESS and glad Rosie was not picked cause she does not represent all of USA!!! yay!!!!

It's too bad that Rosie's not going to replace Barker. The guys on the show's crew kind of figured that with Rosie on the show they wouldn't have to fix the peephole Bob had installed between his dressing room and the one the models use.
I say good riddance to the old pervert and I don't care who replaces him.

Can you imagine how many hearts were broken by Rosie's decision to not move to LA - at last count it was pretty close to - NONE! We were all happy with that decision, Rosie. A game show is always easier for me to watch when the host is not a person who insults people and has the need to remind me every five minutes that she's a lesbian and proud of it.

I sometimes think Rosie checks around to see what's really offending people, then harps on it to get attention. I say that's great - if you don't need money, stay home with your artificial family and we'll ALL be happy.
