British inquiry concludes no foul play in deaths of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed.

(CBS/AP)  Princess Diana's sons say they are holding a summer concert as a tribute to their mother in part to reduce the criticism she sometimes faces.

The July 1 show at London's Wembley Stadium will feature artists such as Rod Stewart, Duran Duran and Elton John, who revised his song "Candle in the Wind" in Diana's honor.

Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. The day of the concert would have been her 46th birthday.

"We want this year to go by and for people to remember all those good things she did," Prince William, Diana's elder son, said in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corp., parts of which were broadcast Thursday. The full interview is to be broadcast June 29.

"After 10 years, there's been a rumbling of people bringing up the bad, and over time people seem to forget — or have forgotten — all the amazing things she did and what an amazing person she was."

Prince Charles and Diana married at St. Paul's Cathedral in 1981, in a televised ceremony watched by millions around the world.

Afterward, Diana became famous for her extensive charity work. CBS news correspondent Sheila MacVicar reported that Diana supported the eradication of landmines and worked to break taboos around AIDS and HIV infections.

But she also was well known for divorcing Prince Charles in 1996 after admissions of adultery on both sides.

The Paris crash that killed Diana also killed her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, and their driver. A long-delayed inquest into the deaths resumed Wednesday.

Prince William, 24, said he and his brother, Prince Harry, 22, decided the concert "was the best way of ... letting people remember all the good things about her because she's not here to defend herself when she gets criticized, and so we want to do that instead, and this is the best way of us getting that across to people."

Prince Harry said, "The memories that we've got of her, we're very lucky to have because they're private between us.

"That's the nicest thing about it, as you see her get slated for such and such, but the personal memories that we have of her are very much private and that's where hopefully it'll always be."

The concert also will include a performance by the English National Ballet and songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber in honor of the princess' love of dancing and theater.

Money raised from the concert will go to charities Diana supported.

Why do you call her Princes of Wales she is not, she lost that title when committed infidelity which James Hewitt, a spitting image of Prince Harry also a **** head in his youth, unlike HRH Prince Charles.
For a country such as the USA ,that professes Christian values so much, how is her sleeping with somebody who isn%u2019t her husband ok .
Would you all be so supportive had she married Dodi Fayed a Muslim , Everybody in the UK knows what a manipulative *** she was how she tried to undermined the royal family..

I am so proud of the lads - especially Harry - for boning up against incredible odds and becoming men that exhibit the strength and character that hasn't been seen in the sappy House of Windsor for years.

As a sign they're NOT of their Father's strain, they have opted to take the surname "Wales" instead of Windsor, as Charlie and his ignorant, sissified brothers did.

I have heard stupid questions about Harry's parentage...do you remember Diana's brother giving the eulogy in Westminster Abbey in September of 1997 ? Remember his RED HAIR ? Don't be stupid, people. He's not the groomsman's kid - he's Charlie and Di's.

I just pray God they are blessed with long lives and many children = hopefully to break the strain of weakness and hemophilia the Windsors, the remnant of the silly Kraut Battenberg (Victoria and the rest of the fat, midget, inbred European monarchists) bloodline that has infested most royal bloodlines since the turn of the 19th Century.

Bloody well time for a change.

God Save Princes Will and Harry !

I have always looked at Diana as someone who tried to make the best of a horrible situation. There is one thing that she did and that was to raise her boys as normal as possible where they enjoyed what most people did in the way of enjoyment. And, she showed them that she LOVED them a lot better then the royal family did. She let her love of the boys show through the way she interacted with them. Diana also took them to places of enjoyment instead of keeping them away from the common people. That way, the boys got more of an ordinary upbringing then the rest of the royals. It is a shame that she had to die so young as she had a lot to offer the world. She showed people that there was no need to be afraid of showing compassion and friendship to people with HIV/AIDS and was not afraid to hold their hands, etc. And her work against land minds is the first I have heard of anyone showing any intent to do away with the maimer of children. No, Diana is someone who should be looked up to instead of people trying to run her into the ground.

These boys have handled themselves so well. I'll always think of how sad they looked at their mum's funeral. I adore these boys and wish they would have visited USA with grandma. I hope Brits are kind to them, the British tend to be snarky.

Why is it that when someone famous passes away they have to dig up all the dirty on them? The people aren't here to defend themselves. Did you ever hear that he that who is without sin cast the first stone? What do I care what went on in their private lives. But it certainly seems to me that Diana got crapped on by the Royal Family. I'm glad that William and Harry are doing something for their mother. I'm sure if you loved your mother, you would over look her shortcomings. And certainly Diana had a right to go out with whom she pleased, she was no longer married.

For those of you who seem to feel it's needed to comment on the boy's teeth, I feel they look fine. Why must we always strive for the perfect look? Can't you get beyond such mild differences? One of the reason why we have so much unneeded *** in this world.

Unfortunately the Queen is probably the worst of all. Think of when Diana died...The public outcry at the way the Queen treated the whole funeral thing. The Queen treated her like trash and everyone knows that. I do believe Diana did make an appearance on TV telling it all. Charles had to fight the Queen on even something as petty as having the flags at half staff. Diana may not have been perfect but she was and always will be better than The Royal Family...Dead or Alive.

I think people should stop fussing about their mother and their lives, they are good people who were born into an interesting life that most of you are just jealous of. GET A LIFE!!!!!

shammy0202,

Hey, I'm not making excuses for that loser. The whole lot of them, with the exception of the Queen, are nothing to write home about.

But two wrongs don't make a right. If she had evidence of his infidelity, she should have just pulled him in to the office and told him to give her an outlandish settlement or she would go public.

If she had been at home with her sons instead of out banging Dodi and who knows who else, she'd probably still be alive.

I wonder why the British don't put braces on their childrens' teeth. Prince William looks like Bucky Beaver. I think the royal family could have afforded dental care.

The scary part is, he's still one of the best-looking royals in the English monarchy. Better some buck teeth than his father's Dumbo ears.

She was home with her sons whenever Charles didn't have them. Diana is a primary reason why William and Harry are not isolated fools about the real world.

I agree that I wouldn't want to have to live their life, but these boys are sweet to want to do something to defend their mother's name. They can't help what they were born into, but they seem to have turned out no worse than anybody else's kids, especially considering the fish bowl they've grown up in. The world should give them a break.

If this is an artical about sons trying to help their mother's image better, they why post a link to photos of her death?
Its just like the media to try to capitalize on something bad rather then on the good that a person did while they were alive. Where are the photos of the children that she helped all over the world? Where are the photos of all the love that she showed the people of the world and the people of the world held for her?

I am so glad I don't have to live their sorry lives. I'd rather be hiding in the bush fearing for my life in Sudan than being one of them.
