Interactive Bush Presidency The president's agenda, plus facts, figures, major events and key personalities.
The survey, released Thursday, reflects widespread discontent over how Mr. Bush is handling the war in Iraq, efforts against terrorism and domestic issues. It also underscores challenges Republican presidential and congressional candidates will confront next year when they face voters who seem to be clamoring for change.
Only 32 percent said they were satisfied with how Mr. Bush is handling his job overall, the same low point AP-Ipsos polling measured last January and a drop of 3 percentage points since May.
Mr. Bush still wins approval from seven in 10 Republicans, though that is near his historic low for GOP support. Only a quarter of those initially identifying themselves as independents expressed satisfaction with the president, along with 8 percent of Democrats.
On issue after issue, approval of Mr. Bush's efforts matched previous all-time lows in the survey.
Twenty-eight percent were satisfied with his handling of the war in Iraq, down 5 percentage points in a month. Two in three Republicans said they approved.
Only a third overall approved of how Mr. Bush is handling domestic issues like health care, with the same proportion expressing satisfaction with his job on foreign policy and the war on terror. And 37 percent said they approved of his handling of the economy. Support in all categories dropped slightly since May.
In another indication of the public's bleak mood, only 21 percent said they believe things in the U.S. are heading in the right direction, the worst mark since the AP-Ipsos poll began in December 2003.
Women, older people, and those with low incomes were especially discontent. Only three in 10 conservatives and similar numbers of white evangelicals — usually strong GOP supporters — expressed satisfaction with the country's direction.
The poll involved telephone interviews with 1,000 randomly chosen adults from June 4 to 6. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Nah man, to be a Bush supporter is just plain ignorant (except for immigration of course)
This is country with many regions and many opinions. We do best when we do it together. You may not be able to get everything you want and maybe that is a good thing. Compromises may not be the best in all situations, but they are not a bad place to start.
There is another principle that says that decisions that affect lots of people made by lots of people tend to be better decisions, but take longer to make. Look at the Japanese, they take lots of time to make collective decisions and their auto makers are winning in the marketplace with products that people want to buy.
You are entitled to your opinion, no matter how ill informed it may be. However, since you would likely consider Lincoln a facist (after all, Lincoln did suspend Habeas Corpus. See:
http://www.civil-liberties.com/pages/did_lincoln.htm) and probably you'd also think FDR was a facist also since he tried to add members to the Supreme Court to get favorable rulings. (see:
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/presidents/32_f_roosevelt/f_roosevelt_politics.html) I'd be in good company.
Remember Winston Churchill's words:
'To be conservative at 20 is heartless and to be a liberal at 60 is plain idiocy.'
To be consevative at 60 is still heartless. To be a Bush supporter is fascist.
I didn't think you'd use the Black Flag, since it's not environmentally friendly....Why don't you use the White Flag, like you usually do?
Keep in mind Winston's Churchill's words:
'To be conservative at 20 is heartless and to be a liberal at 60 is plain idiocy.'
'Ahhh but their ratings are on the way up from being lower and Bush's are sinking faster and faster from being higher. Of course a neocon would fail to point that little fact out, now wouldn't you? Or maybe god forgot to tell you that part? LOL!'
Funny, the Gallup organizations seems to disagree with you. At this link: http://www.galluppoll.com/content/?ci=27589 you can find the following:
'According to the May 10-13, 2007, Gallup Poll, 29% of Americans approve and 64% disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job. Congressional approval is down 4 percentage points since last month, and is 3 points lower than the 32% average measured during the first five months of the year. The high point for the congressional approval rating so far this year was the 37% approval measured in February. Although ratings are quite low, Americans have been more positive in their assessments of Congress this year than last year, when an average of just 25% approved of Congress.'
I wouldn't call a 5% drop over the last 4 months an rise. But then I'm not you.
Remember Winston Churchill's words:
'To be conservative at 20 is heartless and to be a liberal at 60 is plain idiocy.'

In talking to folks out in public, I suspect the support numbers are closer to 8 percent...
Junior was at a commencement address and said "some people are graduating with honors, I never had that experience"..there you have it folks.
The best and the brightest that were in charge during the times of JFK have turned into the worst and the dumbest under W.
If that's Rockin' Killer Koolaid, you might want to give it a try. (Gin, Amaretto, Melon liqueur, Vodka, Sprite, Orange juice, and Pineapple juice). After a couple, even you might see the light.
Keep in mind Winston's Churchill's words:
'To be conservative at 20 is heartless and to be a liberal at 60 is plain idiocy.'
You know though, considering some of the posts by pro-Bush idiots here on this site, one would have to conclude that either there are more pro-Bush idiots then this poll would suggest or that they're just esp virulent and ignorant here. I think it's that we seem to attract the more stupid ones here. I would have said the more brainwashed ones, but being a Bush supporter precludes them having a brain to wash.
