Paris Hilton "Crying" Behind Bars

By
Amy Bonawitz
(CBS)  A teary-eyed Paris Hilton received two visitors in jail yesterday, her lawyer and a shrink, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Defense lawyer Richard Hutton and Dr. Charles Sophy were visitors at the facility for two hours, the paper said, as the hotel heiress seems to be struggling with incarceration.

A lawyer who is representing two murder suspects staying in the same ward as Hilton told the newspaper, "They can hear her crying a bit."

"She came out of her cell to make a phone call. She's not used to making collect calls and she needed help. A sergeant had to help her," the lawyer said, adding that inmate 9818783 had been "friendly" with other inmates.

The Web site TMZ reported Tuesday that the heiress has been crying on the phone and is not sleeping or eating.

Sources told the Post that Hilton was spared from a body cavity search upon her arrival at Lynwood.

"Paris didn't have to go through the cavity search. When bent over, she didn't have to cough," said Saul Reyes, who does maintenance at the women's jail as part of a work-release program. "She didn't have to spread 'em."

Sources said that the inmate enrollment process that usually takes 24 hours, took Hilton an hour.

"All the inmates waiting to be processed were taken into a temporary holding cell, and Paris was brought in and booked quickly. The inmates taunted Paris for getting special treatment," a bail bondsman told the newspaper.

And, luckily for Hilton, a soda machine was installed in her ward the day she arrived.

Apparently, someone from the outside tried to cheer Hilton up yesterday. The Post reported that deputies turned back two deliverymen carrying a dozen red roses and a fruit basket with apples, oranges and a pineapple for Hilton.

The care package included a card that said: "I hope you're OK. Call me when you can. Don't feel bad, remember you're Paris Hilton." It is not known who sent the package to Hilton.

But on the unlucky side of things, "Inside Edition" reports that the Lynwood jail is rife with staph infection, with over 402 inmate diagnosed last year alone.

For every 1,000 inmates that enter Lynwood, 13 will contract some version of this infection, the news show reported.

I certainly don't think that celebrities should get any special treatment. However, I do think the jail terms of 45 days is rather harsh. I think lots of people want to see her in jail longer mainly because they would like to see celebrities get treated the way the "average" american would. Honestly, I don't think the average american would have gotten 45 days in jail for a simple probation violation as Paris'. I would say 14-21 days would have been good for Paris' and for anyone. Jail is a terrible place to be, and if you are not use to it, 14 days will seem like an eternity. Many of us do not know or understand how jail would feel like, we can only stand on the sideline, and hope "she learns her lesson." But we have not been in jail, rich or not, anyone would be scared in a place like that if it's their first time, so let's not be upset with her for crying. If she's scared, just let her cry. Don't be mean about it because right now, you and I are free people, so no matter how tough any of our lives are right now, it can't be worst than hers.

Dear LisaNova
Wow ur a idiot to say that "the higher class will always be better......either your mentally challenged or just really young, either one I sure hope ur parents taught you better than that. Money doesn't make a person. Paris deserves what she get, nice, rich girl or not, everyone has a path, and it's too bad she broke the law more than twice. Personally I like the girl, she's great entertainment, but please think before you write the most unintelligent statement ever. That's whats Pathetic!

D-A-M-N, I still can't get past the fact they didn't do a cavity search on her. That irritates the hell out of me.

It just occurred to me that having that ankle braclet on will leave a nasty tan line on that delicate ankle of hers. Course I'm sure her servants will be taking turns moving the band around on a regular basis. By the way, where is the Judge who said no alternatives to incarceration...no probation no electronic monitoring. I guess he still wanted to be Judge instead of a career in animal control. Go figure.

Of course she was crying. My four year old grandaughter does the same thing when she gets put into the time out chair for 4 minutes. When little spoiled girls don't get their way thats what they do. And the wonderful LA judicial system let her get away with it. Wow 40 days under house confinement what a punishment. I am sure she will lounge at the pool and make sure her tan stays, keeps all her little puppies smelling pretty and all the important stuff girls like her do. Boooo Hoooo what a crock of Bullshi**

Let's all hoist a glass and give a toast to the "hostess" with the "mostest". I wonder who was more scared...Hilton being in jail or the Sheriff having her there. I can believe all the threats the Sheriff got from the Hilton side of the fence. I'm sure his career was brought up. How much he's going to pay for his next loaf of bread. When if at all, he'll ever get a vacation, and if he does, wouldn't it be a swell idea if he donated that time to helping the homeless in Calcutta. After that he could head for home on the next all expense paid tramp-steamer. Ahhhh, what a "simple life".

I want her back in jail! Is there no justice any longer? The Judge said there would be no house arrest or any type of special arrangements for Paris. Yet, here she is, out of jail. Poor girl! having trouble adjusting to jail life. What about the thousands that are in jail now? Do you think that the people that are incarcerated and are not rich and famous adjusted better to jail because they are poor and not a celebrity? NO! I SAY TOUGH ***! GO BACK TO JAIL WHERE YOU BELONG!
