Starbucks Will Switch To 2 Percent Milk

Coffee Giant Says It Will Replace Whole Milk In U.S. And Canada By End Of The Year

(AP)  Starbucks Corp. said Thursday it will replace whole milk with 2 percent for espresso drinks in all of its U.S. and Canadian stores by the end of the year.

Drinks in North America will soon be made by default with the lower-fat milk, but customers can still request their cappuccino with whole milk, the company said.

Starbucks said it made the switch based on increased requests from consumers for low-fat milk in stores, as well as increasing purchases of lower fat milk in U.S. consumers' homes.

The coffee shop company tested the 2 percent espresso drinks in Jacksonville, Fla.; Orange County, Calif.; the state of Oregon; and London, Ontario, in Canada and said the results were "overwhelmingly positive."

A 16-ounce "grande" latte made with reduced fat milk has 190 calories, compared with 260 calories in one made with whole milk.

The company is also considering the switch to lower-fat milk in locations outside of North America.

They switch to skimmed milk, because it's cheaper. Another way to skim the consumers is by increasing even higher than the already unreasonaby highly priced coffee. $tarBuck is so expensive that bringing in a family, will make you go bankrupt...

Starbucks offers organic milk, but it's whole milk. Caribou Coffee has always made their espresso drinks with 2% milk. They don't carry organic though. Article didn't say that fat content in milk will drop also with calories; now I won't have to add percent when I place my order.

Along with knowing that Paris will probably survive jail, I'll definitely sleep better knowing that the whole coffee world is shooting up 2% milk now. Thank you for saving my life and letting me live to see another day.

Before you open anything and contaminate the earth with your insignificant ranting, you had better realize that the word MORAN is wrong - it is spelled MORON. I think it is best if you just shut up and quit making yourself look like what you talk about!

As for the change to 2% milk - so it is another option - so what? Quit making such a big stink over nothing. We have the option to buy 87 or 93 octane gas, to get white or wheat bread, to view Everybody Loves Raymond or Everybody Hates Chris and now - we have the choice of whole or 2% milk at Starbucks - oh wow!
