(CBS)  The CBS drama "CSI" is breaking new ground, becoming the first TV series to generate a special exhibit at a major American museum.

CBS partnered with the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, with funding from the National Science Foundation, to put together "CSI: The Experience," an interactive, hands-on exhibit that aims not only to entertain, but to inspire kids to pursue science as a career.

It enables visitors to go through evidence and try to figure out who did it, and how!

The exhibit opens Friday at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.

Wednesday night, major "CSI" stars were in Chicago for a preview party.

The Early Show national correspondent Tracy Smith chatted with several of them, and sampled some of the exhibit's offerings.

The exhibit opens Friday.
