"Idol" Judge Took A Tumble While Trying To Avoid Stepping On Her Chihuahua

(AP)  Talk about bad timing. Paula Abdul broke her nose this past weekend — just days before the season finale of "American Idol" — when she fell while trying to avoid stepping on her Chihuahua.

Abdul was recovering from the mishap and planned to appear on Tuesday and Wednesday night's shows, her publicist, David Brokaw, said Monday. (Two "Idol" contestants remain — Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks.)

"She's a little sore, but is doing fine," Brokaw said.

Abdul, 44, told syndicated entertainment TV show "Extra" that she tore cartilage in her nose and fractured a toe.

"I took a nasty fall ... trying not to hurt my dog. I bruised myself on my arm ... my chest, my waist all the way down to my hip. All from my little chubby Tulip," she said.

The dog wasn't hurt, Brokaw said.

This wasn't Abdul's first injury while judging the competition on the hit Fox network show. She wore a sling in 2004 after surgery on her thumb, which was infected by a flesh-eating fungus following an unsanitary manicure at a Los Angeles nail salon. (She testified in California a year later, urging tougher safety standards for salons.)

"Being a professional dancer, I'm no stranger to pain, but this time the pain was so excruciating that even my hair touching my thumb caused me to scream," Abdul has said of the yearlong ordeal.

Since you obviously read gossip online (I know, I do too) then you couldn't have missed Ms. Abdul's statement that she has a neurological disorder. With multiple cats I can vouch for the frequency with which they are underfoot and if you are at all unsteady or hampered it's worse!

i like paula - man that girl could dance in the 80's! i broke my nose back in 1994 and i'm telling you, that was pain like i've never known (well besides childbirth of course) - i feel for the girl and wish her the best.

I agree with you ajaxrose1. Most people who post on these sites have little to do than other than being totally rude,impolite,self pittying,self centered,obnoxious foul mouthed,boo hooers.

Sheesh the lady had a bad fall and that's it. Nothing should be said about drugs or drinking unless you were the fly on her wall when it happened and saw it for yourself.

This is just as bad as the slobbering magazines that you read at the check out stands in the grocery stores. Most of what you read in those and on here you can't believe. So that being said if that's what really happened to her then so be it.

I think that Paula is not a druggie nor an alcholic. As a health professional, it appears to me that she has some sort of physical disorder, but prefers to keep it from the public. I hope this young lady will be okay.

Well, what a crass, rude, hateful bunch of soreheads there are on here today. I've never heard of Paula Abdul doing anything in the world to hurt anyone. I don't think it's funny when someone gets hurt, especially when they do so trying NOT to hurt their pet who loves them so much they're underfoot. I have to avoid stepping on my sweet cat sometimes and have been lucky enough not to lose my balance in doing so. I've come close to wiping out a time or two, but I'm darned if I'll hurt my cat if I can avoid doing so. You all are just hateful.

It matters little how Paula looks on the final, very few folks will be watching following the Doolittle FIXED departure. TOTAL RUBBISH

Right. The woman is a lush and or a druggee. We have all seen the videos of her--they want to say her dog caused her to trip but based on her behavior on talk shows, the only thing that Paula tripped on was some drugs. She should be off tv and in rehab--before the next casualty is a person and cannot be lied away.
