"Shrek The Third"? How About "Shrek 15"?!
(CBS)
"Shrek The Third" reunites fans' favorite characters from the first two films, with several additions.
Cameron Diaz returns as the voice of Fiona.
Among the first-timers in the animated comedy are Cheri Oteri, who joins the cast as Sleeping Beauty, and Amy Sedaris, who portrays Cinderella.
When there's a coup in the kingdom of Far, Far, Away, Shrek's wife, Fiona, is joined by some familiar princesses to help save the kingdom, and Fiona gets pregnant, to Shrek's chagrin.
On The Early Show Wednesday, Diaz told co-anchor Harry Smith the third time around as Fiona was a no-brainer. She said all she wanted to know was, "What time do I show up? That's it!"
Asked by Smith if they'd come back for more Shreks, Sedaris joked that, "We don't kiss and tell."
"Are you kidding?" Oteri asked. "I feel so lucky to be a part of it, I'd be there in a second!
"I'm there for, like, "Shrek 15," "16!" Diaz exclaimed.
Actors usually work in isolation in sound booths when doing animated features, and Oteri kidded that she brought a pillow and blanket in with her to help get in character as Sleeping Beauty, while Sedaris joked that she'd gone in naked!
Sedaris added that the cast was "very well-directed. And I love hearing 'bigger,' because I never hear that, you know what I mean? And then they encourage you to improvise. I love it. I love doing voiceovers."
Shrek's initial negative reaction when learning Fiona was pregnant led Smith to a serious question, on why men seem less accepting of real-life pregnancies.
"That's a question for a man!" Diaz replied. "All my girlfriends who have kids, have awlays, you know — there's never a great time for it. There's never the right time. It just sort of happens, I think."
