Authorities arrested Omar Rueda-Denvers, 32, on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon and possession of an explosive device.
Police say Rueda-Denvers, of Panama, targeted the victim, an immigrant worker at a hot dog stand, and the victim's girlfriend, who had an earlier relationship with Rueda-Denvers.
Police also arrested a 27-year-old Nicaraguan construction worker, Porfirro Duarte Herrera, at his home on the east side of Las Vegas. They described him as an associate of Rueda-Denvers, but did not detail how they believe he was involved in the bombing. Herrera was being held Friday as an alien in possession of a firearm, but police said they expect to file more charges.
"This was a very cold, calculated, planned attack," police Lt. Lewis Roberts said. "These are very, very bad individuals."
Police have said a small bomb was planted on the top of 24-year-old Willebaldo Dorantes Antonio's car while he worked at a Nathan's Famous hot dog stand early Monday inside the Luxor hotel-casino. Police said materials that could have been used to make the bomb were found in Rueda-Denvers' home.
When Dorantes Antonio returned to the parking lot at about 4 a.m., accompanied by his girlfriend, he picked the device up and it exploded, blowing a 12-inch hole in his car. Dorantes Antonio died at a hospital about two hours later.
The girlfriend, a co-worker of Dorantes Antonio, escaped injury.
The woman is also the mother of Rueda-Denvers' child, and the pair had been arguing over his right to see the child, police said. Rueda-Denvers was kicked off Luxor property two months ago, said Carla Alston, a police spokeswoman.
Police said they do not believe the woman was involved in the bomb plot, and are considering her a target, not a suspect. She was in the country illegally and has been in the custody of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, pending deportation to Guatemala.
The charges against Rueda-Denvers carry a minimum punishment of 40 years to life in prison. The murder charge could carry the death penalty.
If convicted of the weapons charge, Herrera faces one to six years in prison.
It was not immediately clear if Rueda-Denvers or Herrera had an attorney.

- Illegal aliens killing each other?
Mmmm
That could be a solution to the alien problem, no? LOL
Why clog up the in-justice system and waste government time?
Why not just deport them and be done with it, especially since no American was killed? - Reply to this comment
- since blanket amnesty is being given to illegals who may or may not have prior criminal records, we really have no idea what manner of people Bush and the Democrats (and Lindsey Graham) are bringing in. Get ready for more bombs, killings and maybe even IEDs and terrorism as we all learn first hand why these people's country's are so messed up and why they are part of the problem in their old country and will contaminate us in the same way.

- Now all the so called liberal bleeding hearts can drop in and tell us that this bombing thing is not tied to illegal immigration. Everyone needs to remember that people may come to a new country but they bring their old habits with them. If part of survival was paying out bribes or extortion, then when they come here--that is how they still operate. If it is okay to **** in public, or squat and ******--then they will do it here. If people routinely steal from employers or beat their women* or kill them--then they will do it here.
* In many Latin America countries, men can be acquitted of murder if they kill their wives or lovers for infidelity. In these countries men can beat women with impunity and they are also way more sexually aggressive--those men (if they come) bring those attitudes and actions here. Now--if from an unstable or violent culture, where people learn to make bombs or use guns to settle disputes--then this methods find their way here. In the past few months there have been several cases of people pelting the police with rocks, bottles and trash--to show their displeasure---that is how they do it in their old country. We should remember that, when we open our arms to other people, particularly people who are NOT vetted--that we really do not know what we are accepting. - Reply to this comment

Well...it doesn't seem to be working, does it? Law abiding citizens do not have bombs, but illegal aliens (criminals) have all the bombs they want!
(Doesn't anyone recognize sarcasm anymore)? Besides, I just thought I would post that before the gun control freaks started in about how much safer we would all be if we just gave up all of our rights to the government.
But seriously, if our government would keep the illegals out of our country this would not have happened in our country. How hard is that to understand? - Reply to this comment
- I agree illegal aliens need to be deported but not everythng is Bush's fault. The congress has a dog in this fight and they need to share responsibility for our immigration problem. We have had this problem under both Democratic and Republication adminsitrations. Nothing will change unless we force the government to take the appropriate action.

- Criminals in our country breaking all the laws and this is the people the Bush administration and Ted Kennedy and Graham want to give amnesty to??? I guess you can't blame them for sticking with their own kind. Once a criminal ...always a criminal...the whole bunch of them..illegal aliens and those that support them should share a 5 bedroom house with about 10 illegals in each room so they can plan their next criminal act "together"!

- An outrageous crime committed by illegals; those same Bush-Hating-Loonies who would keep our borders open for trespass continue to refuse to see the obvious. That not everything that happens in this country is George Bush's fault.
Loonies on the left get ready for eight more years of GOP govenment. Learn to love it!
A liberal is that kid in the third grade who ran away from his first fist fight and has never stopped running, always claiming a superior intellect that embraces passivism, peace and NO ACTION! Illegal everything has to go! That goes for you druggies, too. - Reply to this comment
- You know Bushie and his little nazi f**ks are crying because they can't use this one to scare people claiming this as a "terrorist attack". Better luck next time you fascist f**cks.

- The two people that are being held by Las Vegas police have names!
Omar Rueda-Denvers, 32, was arrested on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon and possession of an explosive device.
Also arrested was Rueda-Denvers, a Panamanian who targeted the victim in a parking lot, along with the victim's girlfriend, who had an earlier relationship with Rueda-Denvers.
Police also arrested a 27-year-old Nicaraguan construction worker, Porfirro Duarte Herrera, at his home on the east side of Las Vegas. They described him as an associate of Rueda-Denvers, but did not detail how they believe he was involved in the bombing.
Herrera was being held Friday for being an alien in possession of a firearm, but police said they expect to file more charges. The victim was in the country illegally from Mexico and both suspects are illegal immigrants also. - Reply to this comment
- The news from Seattlepi.Com also tells us that the man who got bombed was an illegal immigrant from Mexico and he lived with three other illegal immigrants, all male. He also had two girl friends who were illegal immigrants from Guatemala.
The explosion kicked a 12-inch hole in his 1996 Dodge Stratus. One of Antonio's illegal immigrant girlfriends was with him at the time of the bombing.
She worked at the hot dog stand where Antonio was employeed. You can get a much more detailed story about this bombing at http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/6600AP_NV_Strip_Explosion.html - Reply to this comment
