Both Nations Demand That U.S. Try Former CIA Operative Or Turn Him Over For Trial

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro said his government planned to seek international support for the extradition of 79-year-old former CIA operative Luis Posada Carriles.
"What will happen to Posada Carriles is in the hands of the U.S. government," Maduro said, calling the U.S. "that terrorist-protecting government."
He held a news conference alongside Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque, who said the fact that Posada is now free shows the "hypocrisy" of U.S. President George W. Bush's government.
Maduro reiterated demands that Posada either be tried on U.S. soil for the 1976 jetliner bombing off Barbados or be turned over to Venezuela for trial. Venezuela accuses him of plotting the bombing that killed 73 people while he was living in Caracas. Posada has denied involvement.
Maduro called on Americans to protest the White House's handling of the case and demand that "this terrorist be put behind bars where he should be."
"The United States makes a mockery of international organizations, international law and the world's conscience about this case," Maduro said.
A U.S. judge threw out an immigration fraud indictment against Posada on Tuesday.
A longtime opponent of Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Posada was accused of entering the U.S. illegally and was detained in May 2005. Authorities said he later lied about how he entered the country when he sought to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.
Cuban officials have accused Posada of repeated acts of terrorism, including a hotel bombing in Cuba that killed an Italian tourist. He had denied the allegations.

This Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to Congress to fully support us in our determination to stop this madness and actively support media attacks on our deceitful government.
This Appeal will be delivered to members of Congress.

- I've been reading about this guy Posada for years and from everything I've seen, thhe's guilty as charged, for blowing that airliner out of the sky and a lot more... the evidence is fairly overwhelming. And out of the blue a judge lets him go scott free? How can anyone (other than a lawyer) defend this guy? This is not a republican or democrat issue, the very basis of the foundation of our country is in question here. The United States is protecting a suspected (if not known) terrorist! How did this happen? This is disgusting.

- People are only terrorists if they work against us or our allies--otherwise they are "freedom fighters" and we will supply the bombs, spy equipment and weapons (like Iran is doing) to further our cause. From assassinations to coups to bombings--when we do it -- it is called 'covert operations" when somebody does what we do--to us--then we call it terrorism.
Face it---terrorism is anything someone does against YOUR society--so one country's terrorist may be another country's hero or freedom fighter--and yes--even American bombs and guns kill women and children also. Bullets don't have names on them--neither do bombs. - Reply to this comment

- Posada has been involved with everything from JFK's assasination, to Iran Contra, to Whitewater... every major scandal over the 45 years or so this guys name comes up. He's obviously a CIA terrorist.
