(AP)  Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich filed articles of impeachment Tuesday against Vice President Dick Cheney, saying his action is driven by a desire to defend Americans' right "to have a government that is honest and peaceful."

The Ohio congressman said Cheney manipulated and fabricated intelligence on weapons of mass destruction to justify the Iraq war.

Kucinich earlier had called off his planned filing because Cheney was taken to a doctor for tests on a blood clot in his leg. He went ahead after Cheney criticized Democrats for pushing ahead with anti-war legislation in Congress.

Kucinich said it was important to introduce the legislation, "because the threat of war against Iran is very real."

"This vice president cannot be permitted to continue to violate both the U.S. Constitution and the U.N. Charter," he said.

House speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi has said impeachment is off the table.

Today the Iraq government refused to release the casualty numbers for April because they felt the UN would exploit them to make the country's situation look grimmer than it really is. Iraq bases this on the fact that the numbers for March were only 1600+ casualties and the UN called it a humanitarian disaster. Logic suggests that if the "Only 1600 number got bad press and yet the government had no problem reaching it--then the new numbers for April must truly be horrendous. Also this article (can find it on Roadrunners home page) also states that executed bodies of 25 or more per day are routinely found but also--the government does not want to report those fearing the casualty numbers would look too bad. As if. Al Maliki must have taken a page from Bush's lie-book.

But she was talking about Bush, not about the VP. Please, CBS, pay a little bit more attention ...
She also said Bush wasn't worth the trouble.

Cheney has lied to the American Public, used his post to manipulate and mislead for his own personal gain. He has outed a CIA agent, he has done a myriad of crimes. Bless Dennis Kucinich for his courage to stand up against this Monster of Greed and Abuser of his Office.
Where is the media, when we need them?? Do Sponsors trump the truth?

This action should have been taken long ago.

As for the House speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi she should be listening to the American people, and not make stupid comments about no impeachment. I just wonder if she made some kind of deal?

What are the specif crimes Mr. Cheney has committed. Site a specif law that rises up to high Crimes and Misdemeanors required by the Constitution. If any of you state that he has committed treason, remember that treason is defined as by the Constitution as consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

I support Representative Kucinich's effort to hold the Bush Administration accountable for misrepresenting Iraq's threat to our country. Mr. Hussein did not obtain yellow cake uranium from Niger nor was he linked to Al-Qiada.
Mr. Cheney was one of the more vocal voices in repeatedly misstating the facts. I applaud Mr. Kucinich trying to uphold our constitution and impeaching leaders who lie to the American people about our reasons to go to war.

Impeachment its not just for blow jobs anymore.To lie a nation into war is wrong. To make tons of cash off your stock portfolio because of the war you lied to get is wrong. And to ask someone to fight and die in a war that is a lie just might be an impeachable thing.

Call you congress man tell him/her you demand Impeachment Kucinich can not do this alone he needs the American people call your newspapers this will not happen without a populist out cry.

What are the specif crimes Mr. Cheney has committed. Site a specif law that rises up to high Crimes and Misdemeanors required by the Constitution. If any of you state that he has committed treason, remember that treason is defined as by the Constitution as consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

-War profiteering, which is illegal and Harry Truman once stated that is should be considered treasonous.

-Deliberatly intimated intelligence officials into used first amendment right of free speech to incite violence against a nation(s), which is unconstitutional.

- Corrupted a document (National Intelligence Estimate) prior to the Congress voting on violence against Iraq, thereby, causing "dissenting" and unconfirmed data to be used instead of confirmed intelligence information.

- A classified Presidential briefing 10 days post 9/11 stated that the "United States intelligence community had no evidence linking Saddam Hussain to 9/11 and that there was 'scant credible evidence that Iraq had any significant collaborative ties with Al Qaeda' ". Furthermore, British intelligence agencies confirmed that finding on their own in January of 2003 stating that there are "no current links between the Iraqi regime and the Al-Qaeda network".

Has been openly hostile and threatening violence against Iran, with no evidence of imminent attacks and Iranian leaders amenable to continued talks and has rebuked any offers of diplomatic communications. Furthermore, military planners have discussed using nuclear weapons to strike Iraqi bunkers, when no strike against Americans has been done and no threat to strike Americans has been made by the Iranian government. Under Article VI of the Constitution, any international treaty takes precedance and legal bearing over US laws. Article II section 4 of the UN charter, which the US signed, states "All members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations". The only exception being in retaliation for an armed attack and no such attack against the United States has been made. This makes Cheney's actions and words of violence a direct violation against an international treaty that we are bound by law to uphold.

Are those enough reasons, or do you need a few more?

I wonder if the famailies 3600 soldiers who died in Iraq can sue the VP for wrongfull death.
