In a CBS News poll, a majority of Americans who are following the story of the firings of 8 U.S. Attorneys think Attorney General Alberto Gonzales (seen here at a news conference last month) is not being truthful about his role in the firings, and should resign. (AP)

Who's Who
Firings Firestorm
Justice Department at center of controversy over firing of eight U.S. attorneys.
Of those who are paying attention, large majorities of Democrats and Independents (80 percent and 71 percent, respectively) do not think Gonzales is being honest, compared to 55 percent of Republicans who think he is.
Of all Americans, 36 percent think Gonzales should resign or be removed from his post as a result of the firings; 28 percent think he should not, while just over a third is unsure. But among all who are closely following the story, more than half — 52 percent — think Gonzales should resign.
However, fewer Americans are following the news about the firings than they were a few weeks ago — Democrats are a bit more likely to be following the story than are Republicans. This may change once Gonzales testifies before Congress. His appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, originally scheduled for earlier this week, was postponed until today in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings.

This poll was conducted among a random sample of 994 adults nationwide, interviewed by telephone April 9-12, 2007. The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus three percentage points. The error for subgroups is higher.

Yes. We think all of America is seeing the true colors of the neo cons now. Those colors don't run? The color is lying yellow belly--and yellow can't run--it's too busy standing there and just pissing on itself.
A spokeswoman for a joint venture between Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp. said the Justice Department notified the companies in December of an "investigation" into the so-called Deepwater program."
Ok guy's don't shred the Documents!!!!
I'll give you one guess to figure out what they did first?
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IF YOU LIKE DEAD AMERICAN SOLDIERS STAY THE COURSE IN IRAQ AND VOTE REPUBLICAN!
PLEASE READ ATTACHED ARTICLES WE CAN IMPEACH BUSH CHENEY!
According to a Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted in June, 52 percent of Americans now believe the President deliberately distorted intelligence to make a case for war. In an Ipsos Public Affairs poll, commissioned by AfterDowningStreet.org and completed October 9, 50 percent said that if Bush lied about his reasons for going to war Congress should consider impeaching him. The President's deceit is not only an abuse of power; it is a federal crime. Specifically, it is a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 371, which prohibits conspiracies to defraud the United States.

Gonzales is just another pointer to the disgrace that has taken over our once-great country...
And by the way, it's already been known that Gonzales has made false statements on this matter. (Not being involved in the decisions, not dismissing for political reasons... So like Bush, he has either has to be the dumbest person in the world and does not remember e-mails from Karl Rove or he's lying or both.
So, more Americans believe he should resign than those who think he shouldn't. If anything, the headline is misleading in favor of Gonzales.
He can't win, why is he holding on?

And a tendency that the wingnuts are oblivious to, since they only see what they want to see.
They will. Once you renounce your American citizenship and leave the country, they will resign. Fair enough?
Next, the numners in the should he resign survey don't add up. How can Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all have above 30% unsure and the total has 10% unsure?
For shame CBS. Come back when you learn to add. Better yet, fire the person responsible for this pathetic work and get someone competent to add, subtract, and divide!
The story begins fair enough, referring to "people familiar with the case." But, then cites "all Americans" in its headline.
The majority of Americans do not know who the attorney general is, or what he does. So how can their opinions be considered worthy of the headline?
52% of those "familiar with the case" think Gonzo should resign, including me.

He lied to congress and the American people. And, did so on tv, with his own mouth.
According to the standards set by the GOP controlled congress, that is grounds for impeachment.
The only way he might stay is if he has information on the President and/or Vice President that is worthy of impeachment.

Ah. But it didn't. And that cr@p goes both wats. IF IT HAD, something tells me that you wouldn't be making excuses for a Dem Atty Genl. There wouldn't be any cries of "you're not psychic! you don't know what's going on in other peoples minds!" if Janet Reno was the one testifying.
1) You do believe that AG Gonzales is lying about the firing of these poor, innocent attorneys recently, don't you?
2) Don't you think that AG Gonzales should resign or be fired for his bullying and unethical firings of these poor, innocent attorneys who were just trying to do their jobs and should not have to answer to the White House for anything?

Um, toolman? Sorry, tcoleman12: That joke might have worked better IF THE QUESTIONS WEREN'T QUOTED IN THE ARTICLE.
And I think it's a HOOT that your "Question 2"--which I'm assuming is your lame attempt at satire--IS EXACTLY HOW IT SHOULD BE!
The Justice Departmentshould not have to answer to the White House for anything, and be allowed to do their jobs without obligation or favor.
Be off with you. Back to Fox Noise.

Oh, wait. You weren't really looking for an answer on that, were you? My bad.
For the slower members of our studio audience--the NEWS is the change from what's current. How is it news to talk about how many people want him to stay when he's still in office? That's cheerleading, not news.
If CBS has a "liberal bias" they would have rigged the survey, and manipulated the results, so they can have a 70% think Gonzo should quit.
Go back to Fox Noise.
The majority you speak of are not aware of the case. That majority would answer yes to just about any question that were asked of them just to get off the phone so they could eat dinner.
Like I have said before, Bush should have fired ALL of them from the start like most Presidents before him, including the beloved Clinton.

Hey. Whack-a-doodle. Bush dismissed nearly all U.S. attorneys upon taking office.
History gets changed a lot over in the right-wing-world, eh?

Big guy--just for you:
Several media outlets have compared the Bush administration's controversial dismissals of eight U.S. attorneys to President Clinton's dismissal of almost all U.S. attorneys upon taking office in 1993. Clinton's firing of the prosecutors was highlighted March 13 at Drudgereport.com, the website of Internet gossip Matt Drudge. Over the next 24 hours, several media outlets -- including Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, and MSNBC -- echoed the unfounded comparison between the Clinton and Bush dismissals.
In fact, while both Clinton and Bush dismissed nearly all U.S. attorneys upon taking office following an administration of the opposite party, The Washington Post reported in a March 14 article that "legal experts and former prosecutors say the firing of a large number of prosecutors in the middle of a term appears to be unprecedented and threatens the independence of prosecutors."
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!
Senile,Sniverler-in-Chief.
His memory lapses are extrdinary. He seems to have problems with short term memory. Gonzales is able to site things long ago. This sound senility does it not, or substance abuse?
That's going to be a great day.
The subline and the headline are drawn from two different questions...
Shame on you CBS
He just can't stand up and say "Bu$h told me to!"
It sucks being a yes-man appointee...

His loyalty belongs to the party.
"NOT" to the US Constitution
What he has done, is nothing less than treason.
There is a lot more to this, Than what Pres. Bush and the FBI want the world to know.
