(AP)  A woman who claims Chris Rock is the father of her child is withdrawing a lawsuit filed last month in Georgia and will refile it in New York, according to a published report.

Kali Bowyer claims the 42-year-old actor-comedian is the father of a child she had 13 years ago. The lawsuit filed in Bulloch County asked for child support, medical coverage and attorney fees.

Bowyer told the Statesboro Herald on Thursday she decided to refile the lawsuit in New York after consulting with her attorney, Brett Kimmel.

She has an unpublished phone number in the Statesboro area and could not immediately be reached by The Associated Press for comment Friday.

Jodi Kimmel, an attorney for Bowyer in New York, declined to comment.

Bowyer claims she and Rock "were friends and we spent time together."

There was no immediate response from Rock's publicist, Leslie Sloane, to an e-mail from the AP seeking comment.

Rock and his wife, Malaak, have been married for 10 years. They have two young children and live in the New York City borough of Brooklyn.

The_Mirror, wow, you completely missed my point. I think you were reading something else. First, for the record, I am NOT a woman-hating man. Far from it. I'm a man-loving woman- a married mother to my wonderful man in fact.

Never in my "rant' did I suggest he be let "off the hook". On the contrary, I was expressing my dismay that so many people DO NOT take responsibility for their actions- starting with the unzipped pants & the panties bunched around the ankles and ending with parental responsibilities.

I know Chris Rock was well on his way to stardom 13 years ago: ALL THE MORE REASON he should have used more of his brains that night & less of his hormones! Though I stated that I am a fan of Chris Rock I did't imply that he not be held accountable. If I was on the crest of a public face career wave I would exercise a little more self preservation & not allow the opportunity to ever exist for someone to take advantage of my fame.

Look at the AnnaNicole Smith Baby Daddy Fiasco! Every man who ever rolled in the sack with her- sans condoms obviously!- suddenly came crawling out of the woodwork hoping for a piece of that trust fund pie. It's obvious now, after the DNA tests, that even she didn't know who the father was. How sick is that?!

And that's my point. People stop thinking once the blood starts going south, & an innocent child become the product of the ensuing insanity.

I can't believe that after this week's events with Don Imus - some stupid MEN continue to disparage women by calling the "Who-r-e-s" or "Hos"...

Enough of the unequal evaluation of a person's responsibility and morals... As far as discretion of contraception goes - it is a 2 - way street - so don't blame one without the other...

As far as calling the person slang names that describe the person as some ground scouring inhuman being - get with it... It is no longer an acceptable use of language!!!

To settle paternity cases, there should be a local government agency (where the child resides) that orders a DNA test, and if the test comes out positive, then that agency should have the right to order (and enforce payment of) 1/2 the amount back child support and medical care and 1/2 the amount of future support and medical care until said child reaches the age of 18. Since it takes two to make a baby, the idea of putting the entire cost on just the male is no longer a fair settlement, unless the child is a result of the woman being raped. There should not have to be the need to sue or to hire an attorney by either party involved. There should be an "agency fee" and the cost of paying the agency's fees should be divided between the two people involved. If the man is falsely accused, then the woman should pay all the fees. If the woman was raped, the man should pay all the fees AND BE PROSECUTED AND SENT TO JAIL!!!

What I want to know is this woman waited so many years to go after CR if he is the father of her child? Has she married in the meantime to someone who has raised this child as his own? There are considerations to made here, and the media should stay out of it.

Ecudoriana,
CR was well on his way 13 years ago, had been making money on stage, movies and tv since 1987. If in fact the child is his why should he get off the hook. How do you know the women hadn't tried for years to keep this from being notorious, and is at a point where a little help would be appreciated. Better yet, why don't the rest of America's taxpaying citizens give 'ol chris rock a break for being one of the smartest and funniest playas in the biz and take care of that child for him.

My guess from your second rant is that you are a man who just hates women. Which strikes me as odd seeing you use a feminine user name. Maybe you have more issues like cross dressing (not sure which way).

I love Chris Rock. Like Jon Stewart, I think he's one of the smartest & funniest men out there.

That said, if he is the father, I gotta wonder why men don't consider condoms- not only for disease protection & baby protection, but also protection against potential gold diggers. It'd be hard for a women to come out, a few years after you're rich & famous, & suddenly produce a child that she claims is yours for a dozen years ago. A handfull of free condoms from the clinic is cheap protection against a million dollar paternity suit & the humiliation that comes with it.

Then of course I gotta wonder what's wrong with women that they still continue to have s-x with men & not insist on condoms. Not only is he possibly about to give you the diseases of every other women he slept with, but if you get pregnant & he never becomes a rich & world famous star, but a low class bum, then you're stuck with a kid & the bills that come along with parenthood- or become a welfare wh-re. And after 13 years you are suddenly going to tell your kid-"Hey see that rich & famous guy on TV? Well he's yo daddy." Later, when the DNA results show you're a lying sack of stranger sp-erm, what's that gonna do to your kid's faith in you?!
How did humans get to the top of the food chain when their brains are small enough to fit in their pants?!

These are the strangest case.

Either it happened or it didn't happen.

If it did happen, why not just get a DNA test these days; and fix things out of court?

If nothing happened, then let the insane woman file away; and put her and the greedy lawyer on ignore. LOL

By the way, shouldn't this lawyer be jumping from the Empire State Building, 69 floor? LOL
