(AP)  A 33-year-old woman was jailed on a $1 million bond and her five children were in protective custody after she was charged with offering to let an undercover investigator take pornographic photos of one of the children and have sex with the 7-year-old.

The woman, from the Detroit suburb of Taylor, was arrested Friday night after bringing the girl to a hotel in Romulus, near Detroit Metropolitan Airport, where she had agreed to meet the investigator, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department said.

The motive, the department said, was to make money by selling the photos. Her name wasn't being released to avoid identifying the child.

The woman was prepared to offer her daughter "for pornographic photos and anything else that was available if the price was right," Sheriff Warren Evans said. "She had indicated very clearly that that child would do whatever it was that the person who was going to meet the child wanted to do, and that she would see that the child complied.

"It's a very, very disgusting case."

She was arraigned Sunday on five charges, including child sexually abusive behavior, illegal use of the Internet for child sexually abusive actions or materials and distribution of child sexually abusive material, sheriff's spokesman John Roach said.

A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of the woman, who wasn't represented by a lawyer at the arraignment, Roach said. A preliminary examination was scheduled for April 12.

If convicted, she could get up 20 years in prison.

One of the charges in the case is a prostitution charge, since the department said the woman also propositioned the investigator herself. The department said the woman advertised herself online as a prostitute.

Authorities said the woman in Internet chats offered the investigator, who was posing as a photographer when they met online, the opportunity to take photos and discussed being paid in exchange for sex with the child.

The woman arrived at the hotel with her daughter, along with adult sex toys in a duffel bag and different dresses for the girl to wear, the department said.

At the time of the chats, the department said it was investigating the woman on suspicion of distributing child pornography.

Evans said investigators were trying to determine if the woman's other children — ages 12, 11, 9 and 6 — were victims of illegal sexual activity.

And for the lady that lost her son. My heart goes out to you. But it is in my faith and personal expirence that god was only bringing him home. We all have to go to heaven some day. It just happen to be your perfect little boys time to go home to god. Your son will be waiting for you there.

Of course it isn't the story. Nobody's saying anyone's faith is better. But a religious view concerning the reasons why such thing happen in society came into play, and it was responded to. Try going back a few posts.

OK ladies how did this story become about any certian kind of faith? Ya god is an amazing father and I don't deni that. But he has asked of us to follow the laws of the land. Being so, we are going to be punished by the laws of the land. She did somthing very wrong. As a mother and a victim of sexual abuse it is in my opinion that she should be punished accordingly and rehabilitated. That is if she can be. Yes it is a sad thing to have to remove children from thier own home but most likely they will go to family first after the family members are thoughly interviewed. The children are simply blessed that thier mother was caught. The mother will be just fine after some time. It's the children we need to worry about. What has happened will affect them for the rest of thier lives.

For you women who are ready to cut her throat; when you see another woman (neighbor) struggling in life with her children, try reaching out your hand to help her. Our roles need to be restored to the "village" mentality to help all kids in this world to experience genuine love.

I fail to see how offering up one's 7-yr-old child to rape, and being ready to force them into compliance, is on the same level as "struggling in life with her children." The "village mentality" you speak of is idealistic. You can have compassion for a mad dog while still accepting that it is dangerous and should be dealt with accordingly.

Alright you perfect people without flaws. The mercy that I am speaking of does not dismiss this Mother's cruel actions, nor should she go unpunished. She did the crime, she ought to do the time. For you "pray warriors" please intercede for those poor children to be placed into loving homes, hopefully not into the homes of some of these cruel people that have responded to this situation, but into the homes of "merciful" surrogate parents. I too pity you that are so quick to give the death penalty to a woman who is obviously abnormal and missing the motherly attribute of being the protector of her children. For you women who are ready to cut her throat; when you see another woman (neighbor) struggling in life with her children, try reaching out your hand to help her. You men who creep in the dark, and put on a facade in the day, REPENT. For the real men, be a role model of Fatherhood, help out a woman in need, even when you is not kin to you. Our roles need to be restored to the "village" mentality to help all kids in this world to experience genuine love.

Amen... I was raised strong Catholic and have changed many of my beliefs as I have grown older. I have wiccan friends and even my children have studied wiccan. I am very Christian and my issue with that is I don't believe his teachings are followed correctly. People have a tendency to twist things to suit their purpose.

Why "wiccan"??? (Curiousity) I have strong beliefs in the afterlife and do support nature's intervention... (Wiccan) I am also a strong Christian. Each has its own part in my life.

My religion is Wicca, because I do not find the earthly church filled my spiritual needs. Originally Christian, and I believe that those who follow Jesus' path in the right way are wonderful folks.

Religion, as stated before, can be a crutch/excuse for the weak, and a foundation for the strong.

Elizabeth Edwards hit it right on the nose. God is not going to protect human beings from their own folly, or from life in general. If bad people are abusing others, it is up to us to step in.

From an Elizabeth Edwards interview:

I had to think about a God who would not save my son. Wade was%u2014and I have lots of evidence; it's not just his mother saying it%u2014a gentle and good boy....You'd think that if God was going to protect somebody, he'd protect that boy. But not only did he not protect him, the wind blew him from the road. The hand of God blew him from the road. So I had to think, "What kind of God do I have that doesn't intervene%u2014in fact, may even participate%u2014in the death of this good boy?" I talk about it in the book, that I had to accept that my God was a God who promised enlightenment and salvation. And that's all. Didn't promise us protection. I've had to come to grips with a God that fits my own experience, which is, my God could not be offering protection and not have protected my boy."

We do need a Savior
Posted by cjhr43 at 07:35 PM : Apr 02, 2007

A savior HAS been provided; our own free will. Whether you believe that is a gift from God or simply a part of the human psyche in general, it is US who need to save the children. And that means, no mercy for the predators. Any mother who would say that she would make the child comply with such abuse is completely devoid of the maternal instinct, regardless of anything that's happened to her in life. She's not being forced to do it by another; she has made a conscious decision to do it on her own.
