"We ask the public and the press to please respect our privacy in this matter as we focus on caring for our children and guiding them through this difficult time for our family. Though our marriage is ending, we continue to have a very amicable relationship," the couple said in a statement.
"Our marriage has always been a faithful one, and neither of us is assigning fault for the divorce. Our children, as always, are our top priority and in our deep love for them we will continue to jointly fulfill our roles as active parents in their daily lives."
Osmond and Blosil married in October 1986 and have eight children. They were briefly separated in 2000 after Osmond suffered a bout of post-partum depression. She later wrote a book about her experience, "Behind the Smile: My Journey Out of Postpartum Depression."Photos: Celebrity Splits
In other Osmond news, the new "reality" TV show hosted by Osmond's brother Donny, "The Great American Dream Vote," has been dumped from ABC's schedule after just two episodes that got clobbered in the ratings.
The series, featuring contestants vying to have their life-long dreams fulfilled, ranked a lowly fifth place in the network pecking order for its time slot on Wednesday with a meager 4.5 million viewers tuning in.
Tuesday's debut episode following the popular show "Dancing with the Stars" did somewhat better, averaging 5.9 million viewers, but still ranked only third in its hour.
The Walt Disney Co.-owned network did not say whether Osmond's show was canceled altogether, but a spokeswoman said Friday there were no plans to bring the series back.
The Osmond Brothers scored a string of hits in the 1970s, including the breakthrough single "One Bad Apple," Donny, the group's lead singer, went on to co-host a popular ABC variety show with his sister, "Donny and Marie."
The two teamed again in the late 1990s for a syndicated TV talk program, and Donny later hosted the syndicated TV game show "Pyramid." He currently hosts a British version of that show.
Marie Osmond appears regularly on QVC to promote and sell her "Marie Osmond Fine Porcelain Collector Dolls."

To anyone who said "Who Cares?" - I have to ask...
Why did you give the story the merit of clicking on it to read it if you don't care? The great thing about the Internet is that we can choose the stories that "interest" us...
The number of hits a story gets tells the powers to be of the publication that you are interested enough to actively read about it...- Reply to this comment

...hate to be the one to tell you, jacksteen, especially if you are religious, which I doubt, but ALL religions are cults.
Look it up, dingbat.
I wish you well, Marie. You've always been one of my favorites. - Reply to this comment

- Oh well so she gets a divorce, As Mormons are sealed for life to their mate does that mean Marie with having two husbands she gets both of them to have spirit baby's with when she goes to the planet kolob when she dies? Ah to be a broodmare after you die oh joy!! And she gets to meet the brother of Satan too, the Mormon version of Jesus whom they say is the brother of Satan.
Much different then what the mainstream Christan faith teaches as they teach Jesus was/is the only begotten son of God, and that Satan was an angel.
So whose right? he he - Reply to this comment
- JackStein,
You have issues...you know? If you are a "christian" you are certainly not showing it. Remember, God says, "Do unto others"...hmmm...apparently you are just a "mormon" hater. I'm very sorry for you. God is no respecter of persons, remember? God is the judge...not you. Get over it...or you'll never make it to Heaven. Matthew 7:7..judge not lest ye be judged. God is the judge, not you!
I will pray for you.

- I have always loved Donnie and Marie. Well, let's see, they're not just celebrities...they're people. Give me a break. Why do we expect them to lead perfect lives? Do any of us lead perfect lives? We all do the best we can, including Marie. You can try to blame her religion, but, according to "God" we are all imperfect and need salvation. Hmmm...maybe she is imperfect, too...just like the rest of us. A celebrity should not be subjected to a higher standard than we hold for ourselves. We're all humans, created by God. And God is forgiving, no matter what.
Hey, Marie, I love what you've done in this world...it is better because of you.

- I have heard the mormons marry for life and and sealed to each other forever. I am Catholic and I was told they live a clean lifestyle. I love a good cup of tea. Mormons are a cult. I guess Marie is not an honourable mormon now in the eyes of the members in her home meetinghouse but that's her ber business. The mormons I met are brainedwashed and programmed like robots. The children need Mum and Dad in the home. That's 24/7 job.

- I think that blogs like this should require contributors to include a mugshot of themselves and a valid email address to which others may reply. I also think that contributors should be required to first call their mother or grandmother and read aloud to them the comments they are about to post. Their probably woudn't be anything left to read but the report associated with the blog.

- During the 70's there were a lot of great shows on T.V. that the whole family could watch without a worry. These types of programs don't exist anymore, and the T.V. is hardly on anymore either.
My best regards and wishes go to all the Osmond family. - Reply to this comment
- Thank You "mygramma". You said very
nicely what I could not put into words.
I have always admired the Osmond Family.
Being a Catholic, I don't know much about
the Mormon faith. I do know that the Osmonds
have entertained and brought joy and laughter
to millions for many years. Wow!! Talk about kicking a person when they are down. It's disgraceful!!!!! - Reply to this comment
- JackSteen1, I'm by no means a fan of the Mormon faith, but I've got to tell you... you are a supreme slime ball for you hateful comments. There are some things about the Mormons that we could all learn from, such as the emphasis on family, but along comes some dipstick like you with sub-human brain power to cast aspersions on something of great value.
I hope you rot in hell. - Reply to this comment
