Howard K. Stern's Sis: "He's Not A Killer"
(CBS)
Bonnie Stern doesn't like what people are saying about her brother, Anna Nicole Smith's companion Howard K. Stern.
"The reason I am doing this interview is because there are so many misconceptions about my brother," she said in an interview that aired Thursday on "Dr. Phil."
"One of the misconceptions is that Howard profited from Anna's death. There's no life insurance policy. Since her death, Howard has not received any money," she said.
Dr. Phil noted that it's been said Stern contributed to the deaths of Anna Nicole Smith and her son Daniel.
The Broward County medical examiner's office told "Entertainment Tonight" Thursday that the cause of Smith's death will be announced during a press conference on Monday morning.
Stern said that her brother and Daniel Smith were very close.
"Howard was Daniel's father figure for at least eight or 10 years," she said. "[Howard] took [Daniel] places, he spent time with him, he played video games with him, which was his favorite thing to do. He got him enrolled in schools. He did every single thing to make sure [Daniel] had a happy life."
Bonnie also said that her brother was no Svengali.
"Anna was in charge. She was the puppet master, and Howard would do whatever Anna wanted them to do. They did have an intimate relationship; however, Anna was not the type of person to have an exclusive relationship with one person," she said.
Bonnie said that her brother believes from "the core of his soul" that he is the baby's father, but Smith's ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, is claiming paternity. A DNA test of the baby was conducted Wednesday under an order by a Bahamian judge.

"There's no truth to this at all," Bonnie Stern said. "He lived for [Anna Nicole], and he would never kill her. No, my brother is not a killer. Howard and Anna were planning on getting married, and she was trying to get pregnant again."![]()

According to Bonnie, Howard is spending all of his time with Smith's daughter Dannielynn, with the help of two nannies. "He's giving her all the love he can," she added. "He's trying to be the mom and the dad for Dannielynn."Timeline: Anna Nicole Smith
