Schwarzenegger Calls Limbaugh "Irrelevant"

Calif. Governor Later Called In To Conservative Commentator's Radio Show To Make Nice

Schwarzenegger's story, his agenda, photos and more.

(AP)  Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger made nice with Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday, calling in to his radio program a day after he dismissed the conservative host as "irrelevant."

Limbaugh, who a day earlier had accused the governor of abandoning the conservative cause, treated Schwarzenegger cordially. But the two had a back-and-forth discussion over extending health care to illegal immigrants — a sensitive subject throughout the United States.

Schwarzenegger's recent policy moves to cut the greenhouse gases associated with global warming, raise the minimum wage and extend health care to all Californians have angered many conservatives.

Limbaugh said the compromises Schwarzenegger said were necessary "to get things done" were a capitulation to liberals.

But Limbaugh sounded pleased when Schwarzenegger eased out of the interview, saying he wanted to smoke more cigars with him.

"The key thing is that people should know that you and I, we don't have a fight," Schwarzenegger said.

In an interview aired Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show, Schwarzenegger had said Limbaugh's views were irrelevant to his work in California.

"All irrelevant. Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant. I am not his servant," Schwarzenegger said.

The sooner we get rid of the Limbaugh's and Coulters on the right, and the Dowd's and MoveOn.orgs on the left, the sooner this country will advance forward; this country is owned politically by 20% of its people (the 10% fringes on either end), these 20% control our primaries and political parties - the rest of us 80% that can actually think on each issue and make decisions on our own get stuck choosing between the lesser evil of the ones selected by the looney left and radical right.

In 2008 Arnold will help bring California into the GOP column for any of the three "moderate" GOP candidates ....Rudy, John, or Mit......

As a loyal, yet moderate Democrat, I first viewed Arnold as a joke.

However, over the last several years, I have come to see that he is actually a very good politician and not so bad a governor.

Amazing how a little middle-of-the-road common sense can go so far toward diffusing this poisonous bi-partisan atmosphere.

The more I hear from Arnold the more I like. He acts with a brain of his own instead of like a party zombie. Republicans aren't used to that. And he's right. Limbaugh is irrelevant and annoying.

Schwarzenegger said he was "the people's servant..."

Wouldn't it be wonderful if our other elected officials would remember that they also are our SERVANTS not our KINGS, or DICTATORS, or bosses, or whatever they want to call themselves? So many have forgotten this simple fact that it is truly amazing when one DOES remember!

Schwarzenegger - Firmly believes it is patriotic that tax payers should pay for rich peoples Mexican servants. Also, likes to get pumped up with steroids and become agressive with women. Has no problem continuing the big lie to cover up the 9/11 false flag operation which has killed over one million innocent civilians.

Limbaugh - Firmly believes it is patriotic to slaughter Columbian and Guatamalian families to steal their fruits. Also, is a drug addict and goes to countries where under age prostitution is leagal with a suitcase full of viagra and condems. Has no problem continuing the big lie to cover up the 9/11 false flag operation which has killed over one million innocent civilians.

He's just a talking point repeater.

What he should be asking is why there is nothing "conservative" about the conservative party.

Rush is a RUBBER STAMP!!

"Ronald Reagan was a conservative........and the people of California loved him"

Wooooo, hold on there, big guy. First, not all Californians loved him.

And most importantly, Reagan was NOT a conservative the way that is defined in today. Reagan is whirling like a top over what passes for a conservative these days.

The internet could save the middle class, though, by such shorts as the Apple/H.Clinton combination. That's out only hope to get someone through the primaries that still understands and cares for the middle class.

Arnold always was smart. His success in the financial world has been due to his intelligent, savvy manuevers in the business world. His association with the business world has been a key link to being a Republican. However, his Kennedy-clan wife has to have been an influence on him, and I'm sure he is now very welcome in the large family reunions. Bottom line- he has converted many of the skeptical observers, including me, because he has shown the ability to think on his feet, refrain from getting bogged down in ideological constraints, and show some humility with the citizens of the state who elected him. He is truly growing in office, and most states would be lucky to have a governor who keeps his ear to the ground and has the courage to initiate bold plans to solve big problems. One of the shrewdest moves to date is moving up the California primary, which certainly empowers the citizens in the state to gain major influence on national leadership.

Why would anyone listen to Rush after Rush admitted that he was a partisan shill and hack who didn't believe what he was spouting. After the Democrats picked up Congress he stated:

"But the way I feel is this: I feel liberated, and I'm just going to tell you as plainly as I can why. I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don't think deserve having their water carried."

I have never appreciated Rush. His brand of commentary is laden with many indiscrete bigotted references to African American Democratic Congressman. He has even resorted to playing African drum music in the background when he starts commentary on a noted Detroit area congressman.

usmcvn, it wasn't Reagan who lost your job. It was YOU. Whether the company you worked for cutback or fired your *** as a matter of convenience when it came down to letting part of their workforce go was corporate thing, not a Reagan thing.

Your insulting attitude is definitely telling. My guess is that you were fired as a matter of convenience because of a bad attitude. Your (continuing) bitter attitude probably didn't help you as you searched out a new job as that comes through in interviews.

You're just another common, dime-a-dozen "it's not my fault" whiner.

Limbaugh is a useless fat drug addicted pig ***.He has not done one good and postive thing in his life. All he does is criticize people. He's the wrong person to be commenting on someone that is doing good. It doesn't make a difference whether you're a conservative, liberal or in between. As long as you're doing the right thing for the citizens, it should make a difference. If more politicians of different parties worked together, maybe they can begin to turn around all of the *** ups that Bush has done. That's who he really needs to be criticizing.

Agree with what some are saying here. Why we have to be one extreme or the other? Left/right...what's wrong with being in the center? Does it make one non-comittal or wishy-washy somehow to take a moderate stance? It brings the extremes to balance. I agree with Governator.

"ideology uber alles"? It was the ideology of the Project for the New American Century that got us into the Iraq mess in the first place, claiming American leadership [post Soviet Union] was good for the WORLD.

Ideology that led Cheny, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz to urge [pre-panned? war on an Iraq innocent of 9/11. Honorablr Prez mistakenly thought he was getting honest advice?

Ideology led Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz to disregard Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric Shenseki's advice to havr 'at least several hundred thousand" troops in Iraq to keep order there after the invasion.

Ideology led US "viceroy" Bremer to disband the Iraqi army and to issue his de-Baathification order as well.

Now an admitted former addict that a governor is not ideologicl enough?

....
actually, in dec CBS did a story on VA computers...yes, the DOCORS all know what is going on ... but what about the PATIENTS? they do not usually have access to their own records or computer.

Schwarzenegger Calls Limbaugh "Irrelevant"

You just figured that out now, Arnold ?

Limbaugh doesn't give a d*amn about principles, conservative or otherwise.

He has a good scam going. It's made him filthy rich. There is absolutely nothing in Limbaugh's personal background that indicates the slightest idealism or self-sacrifice for anything.

Money-making is all he's about.

Rush has always been a duplicitous jerk. His "followers" choose to not think for themselves, because spoon-fed ignorance seems like bliss. As for Arnold, he will always be a conservative at heart, but he is doing his job... representing the people of California and doing what needs to be done in California, which includes policies that cross partisan lines. To tell you the truth, if more politicians stopped serving their parties and started serving their constituents, Americans would find new hope in the political process and get more involved.

"There is absolutely nothing in Limbaugh's personal background that indicates the slightest idealism or self-sacrifice for anything. Money-making is all he's about."

Fairness (a quality Rush Limbaugh lacks in abundance) requires me to note an honorable exception to that statement:

Wikipedia:

"Limbaugh holds an annual fundraising telethon called the "EIB Cure-a-Thon" for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 2006 the EIB Cure-a-Thon conducted its 16th annual telethon, raising $1.7 million; totaling over $15 million since the first cure-a-thon.[51] According to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society annual reports, Limbaugh personally contributed between $100,000 and $499,999 from 2000 - 2005..."

Even Limbaugh deserves fair treatment, though he never accords it to others.

Is the point of sending people to Sacramento to follow some kool aid drinker's agenda or to get work done for the people? The most effective people in California politics in fact in National politics have been able to command and direct from the center. Not far left, not far right. The center. What's funny is Arnold draws fire from the far left and far right. And he's being effective. Kool aid drinkers on both side have to learn to deal with it.

I'm waiting for Arnold to get into a similar catfight with another rabid, pointless pundit who's even more irrelevant than Limbaugh is: Ann Coulter.

Both of these people have no care in anything except their wallets, though if the EIB Cure-a-Thon is actually a real happenstance, I owe Rush a just due apology, even if that is a form of fairness he so rarely presents.

And thank's to Schwarzenegger's line about being the peoples' servant, it'll be fun to see if he sides with the majority of them, or the minority of them (aka the 'corporations' who want to be treated as individuals... only when it suits them.)

The funny thing is that you'll see Arnold veto probably 1/3 of the bills coming out of the ultra liberal California Legislature and the liberals will howl about how the governor doesn't care about the plight of illegal aliens getting their cars towed away or not being able to drive and Rush doesn't say a thing. Arnold tries to get infrastructure bills done and he needs the legislature to do it and he's a "Democrat in Republican clothing."

If Arnold is that, what does that make George W? I can point to at least 3 talk shows (Non Air America stations)on the west coast that are calling for his or his staff's head on a daily basis on a myriad of issues.

b48151,

He has the number one talk show but the political tide is changing. Mainly because the Republican party has lost its compass and moved far away from its base. Also you have George W. Bush who's turning into a runaway freight train, firing US attorneys and jailing Border Patrol Agents for stopping illegal alien drug smugglers. Frankly as a Republican, I think the party would do better off if it weren't driven by the furthest right wing of the party.

Why don't Arnold and Rush make an appointment to step outside and settle this like men, rather than battle in the media like cowards.

Schwarzenegger's recent broken leg would knock the odds down to 500-to-1.

(That's 500-to-1 that Rush wouldn't even show up.)

The popularity of Rush Limbaugh's radio show comes partly from the fact that he's very popular among those who can't grasp the complex technical details of operating a modern television set.

Radios are so 19th century. They're simple and easy to use.

I wager his popularity among people with PhDs is nothing to shout about.
