(CBS)  Talk show host Larry King underwent proactive carotid endarterectomy surgery Friday morning at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CNN said in a statement.

A publicist for "Larry King Live" tells The Showbuzz that King is doing fine and will be back on the air Monday night with an interview with Sen. Barack Obama. On Tuesday, King plans to talk to Heather Mills; it will be her first interview after her appearance on "Dancing With The Stars."

King underwent quintuple bypass surgery in 1987 after suffering a serious heart attack brought on by cardiovascular disease.

The following year, he established the Larry King Cardiac Foundation to provide funding for life-saving treatment for individuals who could not otherwise afford it.

According to the foundation's Web site, King came up with the idea for the foundation in the hospital after waking up from his successful bypass surgery.

King has written books about his battle with heart disease, "Mr. King, You're Having A Heart Attack" and "Taking On Heart Disease."
