Al Qaeda: Shame On Hamas For Cooperating

Zawahiri Tape Says Palestinian Group Has "Fallen In The Swamp Of Surrender"

Events, key players and a history of the world's most unstable region.

(AP)  Al Qaeda's number two leader criticized the Palestinian Hamas for agreeing to form a national unity government according to an audio recording broadcast Sunday by Al-Jazeera satellite channel.

"Hamas has fallen in the swamp of surrender," Ayman al-Zawahri said, according to the excerpts broadcast by the Qatari-based channel

The audio recording just before Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas continued meeting on Sunday — their second summit in a month.

Al-Jazeera did not say how it obtained the audio recording and its authenticity could not be immediately verified. Excerpts broadcast were no longer than five minutes.

"I'm sorry to face the Islamic community with the painful truth, to offer condolences in the leadership of Hamas ... Hamas has fallen in the swamp of surrender," Osama bin Laden's lieutenant said.

Olmert said Sunday he was ready to "treat seriously" a dormant Saudi initiative calling for a comprehensive peace agreement between Israel and the Arab world in exchange for a full Israeli withdrawal from lands captured in the 1967 Mideast War.

This initiative goes to the heart of infighting between Palestinian factions as the moderate Abbas has tried to form a national unity government with the radical Hamas to end the international isolation of the Palestinians.

Western countries have boycotted the Palestinian government, led by Hamas after its electoral win in January 2005, over the Islamist group's refusal to renounce violence and recognize Israel.

Abbas won agreement in February from Hamas top leader Khaled Mashaal to form a national unity agreement. But the two sides have been struggling over the finer details of the arrangement they came to in the Saudi holy city of Mecca.

On Friday, Abbas gave the Hamas prime minister, Ismael Haniyeh, two weeks to form the government. Selecting the interior minister has been a key sticking point.

Later this month, Saudi Arabia is to hold an Arab summit that is expected to try and relaunch a 2002 Saudi peace plan all Arab countries make peace with Israel in return for the lands Israel captured during the 1967 Mideast war.

Al-Zawahri appeared in more than a dozen recordings posted on the Internet and obtained by Arab satellite channels last year. This is his fifth recording this year.

In late 2005, just weeks before Hamas swept the polls in Palestinian legislative elections, al-Zawahri lashed out at Islamist groups for participating in electoral politics, saying that they will never win at the ballot box.

That recording came just after Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood organization made its best ever showing in parliamentary elections winning nearly a fifth of seats. His message appeared directed primarily at Hamas, which is an offshoot of the Egyptian Islamist group.

Appeal for Redress
Sign this Appeal.
This site is an Appeal For Redress in support of our mission in Iraq.
An Appeal For Redress is an authorized means for active duty military to submit a grievance to Congress. It can be signed by Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard military personnel.
It is authorized by DoD Directive 1325.6 and DoD Directive 7050.6.
The wording of the Appeal for Redress is:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.
If you are active duty, reservist or national guard, please Sign this Appeal.
Most service members fully support the war in Iraq and feel calls to retreat by Congress and attacks by our media on our conduct and mission act to motivate our enemy while demoralizing our support at home, directly increasing the threat we face and resulting in greater American casualties. This Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to Congress to fully support us and actively oppose media attacks on our mission and our morale.
This Appeal will be delivered to members of Congress.

that's true karlim - and i can tell that things are changing here cause everyone knows israel has been torturing palestinians for years-

even Sen. Chuck Hagel said israel has chained the palistians for decades and it has to stop.

israel is why the muslims hate us - we have to force israel to give back all the land they took!

Lars will not accept the fact that the majority of us know israel was delcared a state in '47 and that we are not anti-semitic, but rather anti-"zionist"israel.

The "zionist" being those political formations in israel which wish to impose expanded borders (taking land which is not theirs) at the expense of the Palestinian population. These parties, Likud/Katima run by Oldmutt and Nethanyahoo, continue to deny Palestinians the rights to their land, and to their right to live as free people.

I hope this unfortunate war in Iraq has allowed s Americans to see that the root of discord in the Middle East since 1947 is israel's continual refusal to recognize the legitimacy of Palestinian rights to their land and their independence.

Those, like lieberpussy, hide behind the worn out slogan of "anti-semitism", using it to try to stop all honest discussion and debate. Look only at what they tried to do to President Carter.

If we want to truely protect America, we have to make sure Palestinians receive justice.

Israel is the problem, not the solution. They used a 2000 year old book of fairy tales to inflict themselves on the Palestinians who were already living in what is modern day Israel.

Absolutely! When the rockets and suicide bombers stop killing Israelis, the wall should be torn down. Until then, Israel must do whatever is necessary to secure itself. Just imagine the American reaction if we had this problem on our borders.

OK they got away with it and realistically it's too late to change it. However until Israel at least acknowledges that it's nation was founded on a crime, on an illegal land grab, there can be nor should there be peace in that region! EVER! Recognize the right of Israel to exists yes, just as soon as the Israelis REALLY allows a Palestinian homeland in the Palistianians HOME country! A homeland without the Israelis flying missions over it to constantly murder innocent Palestinians and or destroy what they have built! the current homeland that Israel has allowed is nothing more then a large prison camp and an offense to anyone's god, even theirs!

there is no peace with fascist nazi islam....

dnc are like john adams and want to give their lunch money to fascist nazi islam hoping they will leave them alone...

gop are like thomas jefferson and want to use their lunch money to kick fascist nazi islam's arse......

Thomas Jefferson knew about fascist nazi islam..... he killed plenty of them....

In 1786 Jefferson and John Adams went to negotiate with Tripoli's envoy to London, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman or (Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). They asked him by what right he extorted money and took slaves. Jefferson reported to Secretary of State John Jay, and to the Congress:

The ambassador answered us that [the right] was founded on the Laws of the Prophet (Mohammed), that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have answered their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to heaven.[1]

Loser-man,

I noticed that you are beginning to ape the anti-Semites who are revealing their true colors on this site. Nice. Even though you are an ignorant Bozo, I almost gave you the benefit of the doubt about being a Fascist. Don't have to, anymore, you are NO better than bluestarbigot, skybozo, Ex-Lax, or any of the other guys who probably have wet dreams about Hitler - and who probably LIE about their military service too - unless it was serving an enemy of the United States of America.

I'll repeat - United States of America, NOT Israel. Although Israel, like Britain, Australia and Canada represent good in the world, unlike your heroes like Fat Pig Hugo or Ahmedinejedad.

Well, sieg heil, sonny. Looks like you've subscribed to that screed - don't forget to seek out the other roach Karlim and see if he'll sign you up for Hamas.

PS. This is not an economic issue.
Those guys driving the airplanes, slitting the throats of passengers, and sterwardess, and killing 300 innocent Americans ( wanting to kill more), were educated more than middle class. How many more architects, and engineers do you want to kill innocent people before you get off this stupid economic Maxist theory ( excuse ) ?
If only they had enough money , jobs, plasma TVs, they would be like us and would like us ! BLATHER.
We should be sending more troops, bomb the borders regions in Pakistan where they are hold up, sector by sector, see who stumbles out. Close down Al Jazeera, interrogate the reporters until we find out where the bad guys live, and get them. What kind of a war is this ? Is this how our fathers would have fought WWII ? Let Hitler have a TV station, and a "safe" zone, next to the Joker's Lair ? This surge is a good thing. More is better.

I have read Hamiltongrad, and looks like he has touched on a painful nerve for "Progressives" given all the comments. As I read Hamiltongrad , he is spot on and factual. The trouble with so many progressives is that they just hate America, Isreael and all things Western, and then make an argument, mostly silly and unfactual.Instead they should have principals and see what group fits. If you are for gayy rights you can/t possibly be for the PLO or Hama. If you are for Women's right and freedom of the press, you can not be a supporter of Hamas, Hezbolla, Iran etc. You get the idea.
I agree with Hamilton grad, you therefore have to be MORAL IDIOTS.
