Hayek Engaged, Expecting Child

(CBS)  Actress-producer Salma Hayek is expecting a child with businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, a rep confirmed to The ShowBuzz on Friday.

A statement from Hayek's rep, Ina Treciokas, also confirmed that Pinault and Hayek are engaged. It is not known when the couple, who have not been public with their romance, plan to tie the knot.

Pinault is the chairman and CEO of PPR SA, a Paris-based company that owns luxury brands like Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.

The 40-year-old actress has appeared in a slew of films, such as 2002's "Frida" and 1995's "Desperado." She guest-starred in and is executive producer of the hit ABC show "Ugly Betty," which recently received the Golden Globe for best comedy.

Hayek previously dated actor Edward Norton and has laughed off rumors that she and fellow actress Penelope Cruz are an item.

Cruz told David Letterman in January that the two ladies were like sisters, not lovers.

"We are like sisters and we have some sense of humor ... And the story now is that we are lovers," Cruz said.

Cruz joked, "I'm sorry to say that is not the case."

It seems that Hayek has already perfected her mothering skills. Her "Betty" costar Eric Mabius told The ShowBuzz in December, "She's so sweet, she's got a bit of caretaker in her ... she has many dogs she rescues, you can tell she likes to take in strays like me."

She may be a not-too poor actress, but the "Big Picture" will be about getting her personal share of Gucci and Saint Laurent in the divorce. Mark my words!!She's smartif she waited much longer she wouldn't be able to trap him with apregnancy!!

Why is it when you see two woman who are friends, people automatically think they are lesbians? Is it so unusual for women to be friends these days? Sometimes I really wonder about this world. Does the general public think this way or is it just the media doing it because they have nothing better to do?
When the story came out about how they thought that Oprah and her best friend Gale were lesbians, I couldn't believe it! There is nothing wrong with being a lesbian but can't two women be just "friends"?
Where I come from that is what best friends is all about, you talk all the time to each other and go places together. What's the big frickin' deal? This world is becoming very warped!

Salma is "normal" you say? How rude! Therefore you are stating that everyone who is lesbian is not "normal" and insulting a great many women. By the way, having a baby, or getting married to a man have been known to occur with lesbians too!
