(CBS/AP)  Country star Keith Urban is "grateful" he managed to survive a second stint in rehab.

In his first TV interview since being released from treatment, Urban told NBC's "Today" show that his drinking problem had become "unmanageable" again, even though his personal and professional lives were going well.

Urban says there was no specific incident that sent him back to rehab, it was just time.

He admitted himself four months after marrying actress Nicole Kidman. He says "we've got through a lot and she's been extraordinary."

Urban will go on tour this April to promote his new CD, "Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing." He told Lauer that title just felt like the right one for the album.

Last month, the singer posted a video message on his Web site in which he thanked all his fans, family and friends for their support during his stay. He said his wife was instrumental to his success.

"My wife stayed extraordinarily strong and loving, and my friends and family were there," he said. "It's just been — it's been really overwhelming."

Keith will do just fine.He is sharing his downfall with the world.I see that as a big step to recovery. He spent seveal months in rehab, not weeks.I wish him the best and will continue to follow his career.I have enjoyed his music since the late 90's.I have been to many of his concerts. He is a pleasure to listen to.I have met him and believe him to be a sincere person.Good luck to you both Nicole and Keith. Thanks for the honesty!!!

I'm glad for him....but

it doesn't sound like he realized that 'recovery' is a life long exercise (some say battle). A few weeks in rehab does not CURE anyone of a drinking problem. Ask one of the over 2 million members of a recovery program!

I wish him luck
