(AP)  A man prosecutors said was one of the nation's most prolific child molesters was sentenced Monday to 150 years in prison for abusing two 12-year-old boys.

Dean Arthur Schwartzmiller, 64, who also had been convicted of sexual assaults in several states over three decades, was sentenced to the maximum term on 11 felony counts of child molestation and one misdemeanor charge of child pornography possession.

Schwartzmiller represented himself during his trial last year but asked for an attorney to represent him during the sentencing phase.

During the nearly three-week trial, prosecutor Steve Fein showed jurors a map of the "places and decades where the defendant has molested young boys." It included an estimated 100 accusers dating to 1969 in eight U.S. states, Mexico and Brazil.

When Schwartzmiller was arrested in June 2005, investigators found a memoir describing abuse, binders full of child pornography and 1,500 notebook pages with headings including "blond boys," "no, but yes boys," and "best of the best, 13 and under."

Schwartzmiller told jurors that he was innocent and maligned by a society that doesn't accept men who love boys.

During his testimony, Schwartzmiller said the memoir and notebook entries were fiction.

He blamed roommate Frederick Everts — also a convicted child molester — for the child porn. Schwartzmiller also said he could not have molested the two San Jose boys, who are cousins, because he was either at a construction job or bedridden with a bad back at the time.

Although police say Schwartzmiller appears to have spent much of the past three decades in California, he has also been arrested on child molestation charges in New York, Idaho, Oregon, Arkansas and Washington. He has lived in Nevada, Texas and Washington.

Schwartzmiller has used aliases including Dean Harmon and Dean Miller, authorities said. He apparently gained the trust of victims and parents by working as a home renovation contractor. He didn't register as a sex offender so he did not appear in the "Megan's Law" databases in California or other states, police said.

Police said Schwartzmiller befriended the two San Jose boys with gifts, invited them to his house for video games and movies, and molested them.

Judge Edward Lee said that despite Schwartzmiller's legal savvy in getting some previous charges dismissed, he will spend the rest of his days filing appeals from a prison cell.

"For all that above-average intelligence and charm, I have a couple of faults (with you) — an English teacher might call them tragic faults," Lee said. "You have no empathy for your victims; that's not particularly unusual. And you cannot see yourself as others see you."

Where are they digging up all these perverted freaks? I mean, I'm glad they are, it's just that if they have always been lurking around, I'm glad that I have never encountered their evil as a child.

I still have disturbing thoughts from seeing NAMBLA represented on the AIDS quilt back in the 90's with certain "I like boys" buttons and photos. Very disappointing and sickening considering what the quilt was intended to represent.

I am glad they are nailing these rats - unlike Vermont. But how come they let women off the hook nationwide? A predaciuos perv is a predacious perv whether they wear pants or skirt. Maybe things will change soon. Why is child-p*rn possession ONLY a misdemeanor? Legislators, why is that?

When will we muster the political will to put these predators of our children away well before they are able to pursue their perversions as long as this monster did?

We know from psychiatry that these abusers cannot be cured and yet we continue to let them go back into our communities to pray on our children.

Wake up, America! Our children deserve better.

He sounds like a member in good standing of NAMBLA. They always say the same tihng that society just doesn't understand men loving boys. No we don't understand the need for you to take their innocent from them. To force a child into a relationship with threats and intimidation. And for this *** to be 64 years old, he should not be that active sexually anyway. He is more interested in the proverted emotional control over these kids. Well I hope that he feels someone forcing him to have ***. That he is tortured both emotionally and physically in prison.

Hope we hear how his first month goes in prison. They'll probably have to spend extra money to seclude him, guard him, pay for all those appeals and his medical. I think we should have the death sentance for that action. And I'll flip the switch (so to speak.)

Given the attitude of 'hard working criminals' who find themselves incarcerated with pedophiles, I believe that blogger mdc76082 has forcast this monster's future pretty accurately.

As it is, he got a slap on the wrist. 152 years to life means that he will be eligible for parole in only 50 years and 8 months.

On the bright side, he may not survive the 8 months.

Agnim:

G@y and pedophile are NOT the same, g@y is gay and child molestors are typically heterose.xuals known to the victims. Pedophiles may have a preference for boys or girls or both, their gender does not usually make any difference to them- pedophilia is about CONTROL.

150 years should be the norm for all child molesters in all states, with no parole.

I think we should cut to the chase and give his a** the electric chair! Let his a** burn, feel shock, pain, why do we keep wasting time money 30,000 a year to house these sorry *** people who has hurt people and destroyed families, family trees and changed a person life. Why do we have over crowed jails? MAKE THEM PAY FOR THE CRIME. victims don't get a chance to say good by, secure a place for the kids, make sure the bills are paid, yet we get this *** holes and when it's their turn to die, they fight it, don't want to die or plain out scared, WHAT ABOUT OUR VICTIMS.
protect our kids, STOP LETTING THEM BACK ON THE STREETS, as a tax payer I am paying for them any way leave them in there so no one else can be hurt or eye for an eye.

Agnim, Agnim. You've been so reasonable in your postings lately, I wondered if you were feeling all right. Thank goodness you're back to your old self. :-)

Let me make sure I've got this right: anyone who has *** with a person of the same *** is the same as someone who has *** with an UNDERAGE person of the same ***? No difference between those in loving and committed relationships with other adults, and those that seduce children? Because of the ***--not age--of the partner is what's relevant?

Using your "logic"--what's the difference between a adult married man and the creepy guy who only want to have *** with girls before puberty?

Huh. OMG!! I have *** with my husband, so that means I am the same as those freaky teachers who have *** with their students!! I better go register myself as a *** offender...WAIT A MINUTE...nah, I forgot. That's the FAKE logic. Not the REAL logic.

Okay. All better.

Weird. When I published it, all the S E X words switched to ***.

So, in the interests of making it easier to understand, insert $ex whenever you see *** in the previous post...

"And when the sodomized and traumatized victim is a child"

I notice that you didn't respond to the second part of the post.

So, what if there is no "trauma"? Like for example, a loving relationship between adult? Or, what if sodomy isn't part of the equation? So, is it OK to be a lesbian? Who minds their own business and has $ex with adults as opposed to children?

Or are you spouting the line that the only $ex that's OK is $ex for the express purpose of propagation?

So, if I have $ex with my husband only because it's his birthday and have no intention of getting pregnant, that's being "a deviant, a [hetero]sexual pervert"? OMG, I DO have to register as a $ex offender!!

Mom! Dad! Stop that Senior Citizen $ex! Since you're too old to have kids you can't have $ex anymore! Agnim told me!
