(CBS/AP)  Rosie O'Donnell kept up her verbal back-and-forth with Donald Trump on this Monday's episode of ABC's "The View."

Responding to Trump's most recent salvo against her, O'Donnell said, "Here's my official comment," and then made a face at the camera.

"This is going to be good for my stand up act, that's all I'm going to say," she added.

Of course, that's not all O'Donnell had to say. She wanted to explain why she thinks Trump keeps trashing her and calling her "fat."

"It's the way I look. He can't resist. I love when people say you're fat like you don't know," O'Donnell joked. "... It's always the first comment of someone who disagrees with you if you happen to be on the plus side."

O'Donnell said that Trump's comments have a far reaching effect, and have hurt her other plus-sized women.

"He wounded millions of women by saying that I was fat, you know?"

The verbal spat between the two celebrities started last month when O'Donnell expressed her disapproval of Trump's decision to allow Miss USA Tara Conner to keep her title after a bout of underage drinking.

Trump, who was on a publicity tour for the new season of "The Apprentice" for most of last week, didn't miss an opportunity to trash O'Donnell in several of his interviews. Even his wife, Melania and daughter Ivanka chimed in.

"Boy did I hit a nerve with that guy," said O'Donnell, "It was like Mt. Vesuvius erupting."

Trump, in a statement to The Associated Press, said O'Donnell had gotten it wrong.

"I used the word 'slob,' I used the word `degenerate' and I used the words 'not very smart.' The word 'fat' played a very small role, if any, in my description of her," he said.

Barbara Walters also spoke up on Monday, responding to Trump's claim that she was ready to fire O'Donnell from the show.

"Let me say definitively, everything that he said I said about her is totally untrue," she said.

The new season of the NBC reality show, "The Apprentice" premiered Sunday night.

Lil_D3vil "...the View fired Star cuz of her views and big whoop they ALL knew she was leaving in a couple months. So now the new big mouth of the View can state her views with no repercussions. Walters is a hypocrite."

Well, actually, they "fired" Star not because of her views, but because her popularity had plummeted in the wake of her paying for her wedding by plugging the stores/etc that were giving her deals on the show.

If one of Donald Trump's "Apprentice" stars behaved the way he has been behaving, they would no doubt be informed by Donald himself, "You're Fired". As an executive, it is totally inappopriate to publicly exchange in name-calling and showing your vulnerabilities due to others' insults. Rosie O'Donnell is a comic and a show host. She gets paid partly for doing and saying controversial things. What's the surprise here? Rosie is doing her job. Donald just looks silly.

This is SO infantile. What is more infantile and pathetic are the people who actually bother to waste their time following this vacuous publicity stunt.

joshben31, it's obvious you have some connection with the "family" of Mr. Trump. Whether we feel he has a right to be the b*tch in this relationship has nothing to do with anything you've said. He just needs to bend over and take it at this point. Rosie's right! His hair's messed up!

It will take Mr. Trump hundreds of millions of dollars to repair his image, damage that was caused almost 100% by himself. The more he keeps trashing Rosie O'Donnell, the higher the tab. I will give Mr. Trump a free advise: shut up!

Does Mr. Trump really believes that he would have those young wives if not for his money?

Why is Trump ONLY upset by HER cracking jokes about his hair?
Many others have done so before her, so he must have some persnickity issue with her.
A secret longing? Or maybe he wished he had gotten her girl first!
They rally need to just stop the banter as neither one will end up a winner of the war of immature, silly and hurtful words.

Neither of these two seems able to stop fanning the flames - like I would have understood if they wanted to address certain remarks, like Rosie's mention of Trumps bankruptcies or Trump calling rosie a 'slob', but why do they have to go the extra step and say things like 'he's obsessed with me' or 'she's going to get fired' . . . ugh, it's just so ugly.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out - The View's ratings have been up since Rosie came on board and apparently they've gone even higher since she's be feuding with Donald. In contrast The Apprentice's ratings were at an all-time low and it came in 4th for the night. So MAYBE Rosie continues to do this because she stands to gain from it but I think this feuding may have cost Trump some viewers - like me for one . . .

PS I don't watch the View
