It's official: The "Newlyweds" are divorced. Here's a look at the whirlwind life of a pair of young stars.

(CBS/AP)  Unhappy with her second try at paying tribute to Dolly Parton for the "Kennedy Center Honors," Jessica Simpson has asked that her performance not be included in the show's broadcast.

When Simpson took to the stage for a tribute rendition of Parton's hit "9 to 5" during a taping of the annual show, she stood awkwardly, flubbed the words, said something about being "so nervous," and then rushed off stage right. The singer apparently cried after the mishap that left the crowd silent.

Producers gave Simpson a second chance at the song.

But after Simpson saw a tape, she requested the second attempt be pulled from the show, which airs Dec. 26 on CBS.

"She really wasn't happy with her performance and she did want it to be perfect for Dolly, who she idolizes," said Cindi Berger, a spokeswoman for Simpson.

"If I were fortunate to be asked to perform for her I would probably forget my wig! Anyway, she can come over to my house and we will sing it together sometime," Parton told "Inside Edition" in an interview after the taping.

Besides Parton, the Washington, D.C., tribute honors Andrew Lloyd Webber, Zubin Mehta, Smokey Robinson and Steven Spielberg. Caroline Kennedy is the host.

"We appreciate the time and energy Ms. Simpson put into this event and respect the high standards she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors," said George Stevens Jr., the show's producer.

CBS declined comment.

She would've done fine if they allowed her to lip sync like she usually does. *** people for wanting a genuine performance!!!
Entertainment is so much better now with good looking untalented people. I like to watch MTV on mute nowadays. And what the hell is wrong with these EMO bands. My god. Is that supposed to be music!!! I must be getting old because this new music generation really sucks donkey testacles.

She's old news and she really cannot sing well at all, try as she might but really ... her time is over.
Please Jessica get a new life or do something else and better still ... learn how to cook and clean your own clothes. The very basic of things you cannot even do in life and in your previous marriage, shows what kind of person you truly are!

I can't believe someone asked her to sing at such an elegant event. She has no talent - except acting like a dumb blonde (circa the mint commericals with sister); her movies are straight to DVD discount rack - she is not talented - other than to swing her body around and please - don't wehave enough of that already. Other than her *** up the song, now getting her attention, she would be forgotten within 24 hours - Jessica who? I like the comment about K-mart - good one.

professionals NEVER run off the stage when they screw up- and they do sometimes screw up! This girl is exactly that- a spoiled little girl, in a surgically enhanced adult body- & she isn't fit to compete with real artists. Perhaps she'd be better suited for a job a the cosmetics counter at K-Mart.

She needs to accept she has no talent whatsoever. The only way she got to where she is today is because of her smoking hot body. (her face isn't all that much to look at)

This a professional singer. Or, at least, someone trying to be aprofessional "singer".
Get over it, missy.
