William, Harry Announce Concert For Diana

(CBS/AP)  Princes William and Harry said Tuesday that they are planning a pop concert and memorial service next year to mark the 46th birthday of their mother, Princess Diana, and the tenth anniversary of her death.

The concert is to feature some of Diana's favorite music and will be "full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted," William said in an interview with his father's press secretary, Patrick Harrison, which was released to the media.

The band Duran Duran will perform along with Elton John, who sang "Candle In The Wind" at Diana's funeral. The concert will also include a performance by the English National Ballet and songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber in honor of the princess' love of dancing and theater.

The concert is planned for July 1, Diana's 46th birthday, at Wembley Stadium in London.

A memorial service is also planned at an undisclosed location in London on Aug. 31, 10 years after the princess' fatal car crash in a Paris tunnel.

CBS News correspondent Richard Roth says the presence at the memorial service of both sides of the family — royalty and non—royalty — is a significant symbol of royal reconciliation. The Queen's family was not always on the best of terms with the Princess.

Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, the princes' stepmother, Camilla, and Princess Diana's siblings plan to attend the memorial service.

Each of her sons is involved in charities Diana supported or causes they believe she would have endorsed, says Roth.

The concert is intended to raise funds for the work they're doing and for a memorial fund set up after their mother's death.

Diana died along with her friend Dodi Fayed and their driver when their Mercedes crashed inside the Pont d'Alma tunnel as media photographers pursued them.

An official British report into the crash has concluded that a U.S. intelligence agency was bugging Diana's phone without the approval of its British counterpart on the night of her death, according to British newspaper reports.

However, a U.S. intelligence official tells CBS News national security correspondent David Martin that the National Security Agency is working on a statement that will deny eavesdropping on Princess Diana.

Forget Camilla and everyone else, this concert is to honor Princess Diana, not a reason to lash out on others surrounding the event.

This goes to shafteriffic. Be respect about how the Princes felt as they grew up without their mother. How would you feel, if when you were little, and a parent you were close to, died? That would probably mess your life up. If you look and see how the Princes have grown since, it makes prefectly clear that they will always care for their deceased mother. Give them a break and be polite.

Camilla is not "tolerated". To be honest, most of us have no opinion of Camilla. She and the PoW seem quite happy together, the Princes appear to accept her as part of their family, so what's the problem? I think it would speak volumes if she WEREN'T there, rather than being there (probably at the request of the Princes) and showing respect for their dead mother.

Prince Harry and Prince William have my greatest respect, and my heart will always go out to them for the loss of their beloved mother, Lady Diana; she was indeed a Lady in every way! I wish them both all the love and happiness possible in their lives. Their mother would be VERY proud, IS VERY PROUD, of them both, as she watches over them from heaven.

I think this is a great. I do think it will be very strange to have Camilla present since Charles and Diana would still be married if it hadn't been for "the mistress" involved in their marriage. I'm not sure Charles should be involved because he and Diana were no longer married and he never loved Diana anyway.

i guess one can justify anything in their mind - especially as the years go by; however, Camilla, your unroyal *** needs to stay home and do not attend this concert! You are an adulterer and caused Diana much heartache. These wonderful sons of Diana's are doing such a good thing by this and, unlike you, they have enough class not to tell you to stay away. Oh, while we're on the class thing - yes, you have class (as i've stated about Britney Spears) - but it's all low. And with the millions you now have, can you please do something with those teeth of yours?

Camilla never had real class--more like the commoners she put down much of her life. She brags about pushing Diana and Charles together, for the good of England, because she was a married woman. Yet, that married woman continued her affair with Charles (for the good of whom?). Camilla is tolerated by the British subjects, not loved and admired like Diana. But does Queen Elizabeth care for her--probably. They are so much alike; they even look/dress quite similar. Camilla should not go, but you'd have to have class and a heart to know that one.

Camilla, you do not belong at this event. Where is your good judgement? Oh, I remember, you are the one who destroyed their marriage so you could have him, and it worked! You have no good judgment.
