Nicole Richie Arrested For DUI
(CBS/AP)
Nicole Richie was arrested early Monday for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officers took Richie, 25, into custody without incident after she failed a field sobriety test, CHP Officer Todd Workman said.
Her black Mercedes SUV was stopped in the car pool lane of State Highway 134 when officers arrived.
Authorities said they received 911 calls about a car going the wrong way on the freeway and the car matched the description of Richie's.
Police tell TMZ that Richie admitted she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot. The Web site reports that a preliminary screening showed Richie was not under the influence of alcohol.
Richie's publicist, Nicole Perna, told The ShowBuzz Monday that she had no statement about the matter.
2 Richie's booking said that the reality TV star stands 5 feet 1 inches tall and weighs 85 pounds, TMZ reported.
Richie, star of "The Simple Life" reality series and daughter of pop singer Lionel Richie, was booked in Glendale, tested for drugs and released later Monday morning, Workman said. He said the results of the drug test hadn't been determined.
In October, Richie sought treatment to address her inability to gain weight. The fifth go-round of the "The Simple Life," in which she stars with Paris Hilton, was postponed for the treatment.
In 2003, Richie was arrested and charged with possession of heroin. Richie's bosom buddy, Hilton, was arrested in September for suspicion of driving under the influence.

"She is working with a team of doctors and specialists whose focus is nutrition," Richie's rep said in a statement at the time. "It is important to Nicole that she achieves this goal in a healthy way as this is not a treatment for an eating disorder."Photos: Nicole's Disappearing Act
