On Tuesday night, K-Fed dined with his divorce attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, at Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills and was interviewed by a slew of reporters.
But, long-term, where is he headed?
Well, if looking at the past is any indication, the future could be bright for ex-Mr. Britney Spears.
Just like K-Fed, Cris Judd, the second husband of Jennifer Lopez, worked with his ex-wife before he married her. Now, almost four years after the split from the mega-star, Judd is no longer on the A-list but he is making a living by working in the entertainment business.
Judd seems considerably more humble than the K-Fed the world has come to know. He's a soft-spoken guy who seems passionate about his art, dance.
Post-J.Lo, he's been involved in a lot of different projects. He has worked with many hot stars, including popular Mexican singer Paulina Rubio and Nicole Kidman for a dance scene in 2003's "The Human Stain."
He teaches dance across the country, develops music artists, and is currently filming a comedy in New York with Amy Davidson and Natasha Lyonne. He's also the host of a new reality show, "Dirty Dancing," which debuts Wednesday at 10 p.m. on WE.
Judd is an acquaintance of Federline, whose new album "Playing With Fire" debuted to harsh reviews and dismal first-week sales. Now, while Spears is popping up in tabloids and on blogs without any underwear, Federline appears to be going through an image overhaul.
The Abilene, Texas, native wed Lopez on Sept. 29, 2001, after they met on the set of her video for "Love Don't Cost A Thing." They split in June 2002 amid reports that she and Ben Affleck reportedly had a fling. At the time, his face was splashed on every magazine imaginable.
"You just take it one day at a time, and each day gets better as the days go by, and it might take a little longer to heal just because it's so, so public. But you know, divorce is terrible. It's difficult for anybody to go through it, let alone in the public eye," he says.
Judd speaks fondly of his ex-wife, who took her third trip down the aisle in 2004 with singer Marc Anthony.
As for K-Fed, Judd thinks he can move past this headline-making break up.
"I just hope that things are cool between them as far as the split. I wish them the best. It's a terrible thing to go through. You just wish it doesn't turn too nasty and too, too lashing out and what not," he says.
Judd said he was able to move on by his craft.
"I'm a choreographer and a performer and I delved into music," he says. "I was just going about it everyday, my everyday situation, my everyday life, and trying to be a better person as far as an artist is concerned, as far as growing as a person and learning from my mistakes and trying to get involved in everything ... I kind of just moved on with myself and started a new chapter in my life."
Judd thinks that Federline can still salvage his career. "He's going to have to take care of himself and do his thing and he's going to figure it out on his own," Judd says. "He's going to have to get through it."
With his divorce from Lopez far behind him, Judd seems excited about the future and the exposure his new TV show will bring. The series follows novice dancers as they compete with professionals to win a professional dance contract.
"It's all in the good true nature of the film," says Judd. "The contestants stay in a summer camp. The guys represent the Johnny character of the movie, the very macho, professional dancer. The 18 women on the show, they represent the Baby character."
Though he's never met Patrick Swayze, the star of the 1987 film, he crossed paths with Cynthia Rhodes, who played Swayze's dance partner in the film.
"I had a crush on her," says Judd. "I met her a few years ago and I was like, 'Oh, my God. You were in that movie.' She is incredible dancer."
Judd's love for dance eventually may lead him to love in his personal life, but for now he's single.
"It's tough to find the right woman that you would like to get to know and give yourself to," says Judd. "I'm still looking."

- And please don't ever compare Britney's the loser to Chris ... who is a totally clean character and compared to Kevin.
Kevin is not worth a grain of sand on this earth.
He lives off women unlike some people who does go out to work for it honestly. - Reply to this comment
- It's nice to know at least he is decent enough to not want to write a book like Kevin whose clearly out for money.
Just the look of him says so.
No matter how much Kevin's going to change on the outside ... his inside's will always be the same. A leopard cannot change it's spots, especially a gold diging one like Kevin. Poor Britney! - Reply to this comment
