It apparently started as a dispute between the two over marking the ballot, said Lt. Col. Carl Yates of the Jefferson County sheriff's office.
The voter told poll worker Jeffery Steitz that he didn't want to vote in a judicial election because he didn't know enough about the candidates, but Steitz told him he had to vote in the race anyway, Yates said.
Steitz, 42, eventually grabbed the man by the neck and threw him out of the polling place, Yates said.
"The poor guy went back in and he threw him out again," Yates said. "At least it wasn't over a Democrat or a Republican being on the ballot."
Election officials called police.
"That about tops off the day," said Paula McCraney, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County clerk's office.
There was no immediate response to a call seeking comment from Steitz at his home.
In Pennsylvania, a would-be voter was arrested at a polling place in Allentown, where election workers said he smashed an electronic voting machine with a paperweight.
Authorities didn't know what caused the outburst. "He came in here very peaceably and showed his ID, then he got on the machine and just snapped," volunteer Gladys Pezoldt told The Morning Call of Allentown.
The machine's screen was damaged and it was not immediately clear if votes recorded on the machine could be retrieved. Police said the man faced charges of felony criminal mischief and tampering with voting machines.

- Voting this time was the most confusing ever. If I vote "Pro-life" more people would die in Iraq and of various diseases curable through stem cell research. But if I vote "Pro-choice" and pro-stem cell, my phone will probably be tapped, I'll be put on an American terrorist sympathizer list, and not that torture is legal, it could hurt real bad.

I had to plagiarize this great posting of huskerarmy:
"The latest polling shows men, women and minorities favoring the Dems by 65% to 35%. However, computers are favoring the GOP by a very wide margin, 99.9% with a margin of error .1%."

A Baptist preacher accused of running off nine congregants who refused to support President Bush resigned Tuesday. Chandler's resignation came a day after a national group that lobbies for church-state separation urged the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the tax-exempt status of the East Waynesville Baptist Church.
IRS rules bar clear-cut politicking by tax-exempt groups.

US allies think Washington threat to world peace. CONSIDER THE RECENT SECURITY BREACH AT LOS ALAMOS! ==
Only bin Laden feared more in United Kingdom. BUT DON%u2019T WORRY AS HE PROBABLY DID NOT HAVE DIRECT ACCESS TO LOS ALAMOS.
The survey has been carried out by the Guardian in Britain and leading international polls.
It exposes high levels of distrust. In Britain, 69% of those
questioned say they believe US policy has made the world less safe
since 2001, with only 7% thinking action in Iraq and Afghanistan has
increased global security.
The finding is mirrored in America's immediate northern and southern
neighbours, Canada and Mexico, with 62% of Canadians and 57% of
Mexicans saying the world has become more dangerous because of US
policy.
Voters in three of the four countries surveyed also overwhelmingly
reject the decision to invade Iraq, with only Israeli voters in
favour, 59% to 34% against.
In Britain 71% of voters now say the invasion was unjustified, a view
shared by 89% of Mexicans and 73% of Canadians. Canada is a Nato
member whose troops are in action in Afghanistan. Neither do voters
think America has helped advance democracy in developing countries,
one of the justifications for deposing Saddam Hussein. Only 11% of
Britons and 28% of Israelis think that has happened. - Reply to this comment

Dear God,
I know that You are busy with an infinite number of lives on an infinite number of other planets besides Earth. If You should stumble across my prayer please know that some of Your sheep actually care about their brethren; others distort Your teachings and follow the hypocrites like lambs.
My prayer asks You to go into the hearts of those hypocrites who preach that war makes peace. We know that if someone strikes us on the right cheek we are to turn to him the other also.%u201D
Please tell those hypocrites that if no one strikes us, we are not to bomb them.
We read that You shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off .
Are you rebuking us with the terrible loss of life of our soldiers in Iraq?
Some of Your flock, who live in this, the strongest nation, do not all want to beat their spears into pruning hooks. They are led by hypocrites who trick us into war by using fear. When will they follow (Matthew 5:43) and Love their enemies and pray for those who persecute us?
Our leaders refuse to protect this Eden You have given us. They use Your words about having dominion over the other animals to justify polluting Your gardens and destroying all life in Your seas. Please make them true believers; those that respect life in all it%u2019s diversity.
I ask this in Your name.
Your Obedient Servant
