Britney Spears Files For Divorce

(CBS/AP)  It looks like Britney Spears' marriage to rapper Kevin Federline is ending.

According to Los Angeles County Superior Court spokeswoman Kathy Roberts, Spears filed divorce papers Tuesday citing "irreconcilable differences" with Federline.

Spears, 24, married Federline, 28, in 2004. They have two children, Sean Preston, who is a year old, and another son, identified in the divorce papers as Jayden James, who was born on Sept. 12th of this year.

In the divorce papers, which do not mention a prenuptial agreement, Spears asks for custody of the couple's two children, with visitation rights for Federline. The filing does list as separate property, and thereby off-limits to Federline, "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects," earnings and other assets to be determined later.

Spears' declaration that she and Federline had no community assets indicate the pair had a prenuptial agreement and don't want to disclose to the court their divorce settlement, said Leon Bennett, a divorce attorney.

The court papers also state that the marriage occurred Oct. 6, 2004, a few weeks after a widely covered wedding ceremony.

Federline at that time explained the two ceremonies by saying that the couple had moved the wedding date up to throw off the media, but doing so did not give their lawyers time to finish their prenup.

Messages left with Spears' attorney, Laura Wasser were not immediately returned to The Showbuzz.

Spears married Federline eight months after ending a 55-hour Las Vegas marriage to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander. Her second marriage has provided endless fodder for tabloids, which have speculated frequently that the union was in trouble.

Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, issued a statement declining comment.

"There is no statement at this time as requested by Mark's client, Kevin Federline," said Michael Sands, spokesman for Kaplan.

But in an interview with The Associated Press two weeks ago, Federline had nothing but praise for Spears.

"Her influence on me has been really big," he told the AP. "She's a strong woman and she knows what she wants out of life and that helps build a strong man. I look up to you baby."

It's like that old saying, "You can take the trash out of the trailer but not the trailer out of the trash!"

One more thing I would like to say...Britney Spears, honey, I ain't no superstar like you, just an ordinary person, but I went through the same thing that you are going through. I had a leach on me once and couldn't see for a while because i was so inlove with him...wanted him to be the one...but he did me wrong and right in my face just like yours did...guaranteed sweetie, this boy of yours will come crawling back to you just like my ex tried and is still trying...one thing you will look back in and laugh about is "how in the world did I hook up with that fool...he had no money, no goals, no respect for anything or anyone but himself." That's how mine was...I guarantee you that he will come with a "puppy dog" face and apologize...but know this "he ain't really sorry" and there will be tell tale signs...guaranteed. You can make a comeback and this is coming from someone who just got out of that type of relationship too and is now living drama free...you got two beautiful kids to take care of and they don't need a dad who don't care about them like they should be cared for!!

She is just a normal young woman who goes through what many of us women go through. At least once in our lifetime, we meet a guy whom we think adores us just like we adore them...what we don't realize that our close friends see right away is that this guy has a hidden agenda. That is what I think he had...think about it...in our right senses, we would never take a guy who leaves his pregnant gilfriend with a child on the way for another woman will not do the same for you if he gets you pregnant...his priorities are not on the right track!!!

He may have fallen in love with Britney but in all honesty, his head got bigger and eventually he fell out of love with her and used her for her money...while she still loves him and tried to stick it through.

Applep246,

So true....if she had taken a good look at him them maybe this would have been different.

I feel for the kids he has fathered. They are the real losers in this drama.

She got what she deserved and wanted. Hopefully she will go away and take care of her kids....the things that matter in life.

I believe that everyone should just leave them alone. Eveyone makes mistakes but talking bad about the father of her 2 children is not the answer that will make it even harder for them. Britney had to learn a lesson the hard way but she is only human. She has made alot of mistakes at being a new mom you have to learn from them and I believe she is doing a *** FINE job at being a mom. Britney I hope you get thru this a strong woman. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. You and your children are in my prayers all the best to you and hold your HEAD HIGH.

Who didn't see this one coming (besides Britney, obviously)? I believe just about everyone called this one as soon as the said they were getting married. Too bad it didn't come before the children were added to the mix.
