"I just want people to step back and take a look and say, 'Look, we're all sinners, we all have faults, but if two people want to get married, just let them, and let them have a happy life,"' Jones said, adding that he was not working for any political group.
Jones, who said he is gay, said he was also upset when he discovered Haggard and the New Life Church had publicly opposed same-sex marriage.
"It made me angry that here's someone preaching about gay marriage and going behind the scenes having gay sex," he said.
Jones claimed Haggard paid him to have sex nearly every month over three years. He said he advertised himself as an escort on the Internet and was contacted by a man who called himself Art, who snorted methamphetamine before their sexual encounters to heighten his experience.
Jones said he later saw the man on television identified as Haggard and that the two last had sex in August.
He said he has voice mail messages from Haggard, as well as an envelope he said Haggard used to mail him cash. He declined to make the voice mails available to the AP, but KUSA-TV reported what it said were excerpts late Thursday that referred to methamphetamine. Haggard later told the station that he left the voice mails.
"Hi Mike, this is Art," one call began, according to the station. "Hey, I was just calling to see if we could get any more. Either $100 or $200 supply."
A second message, left a few hours later, began: "Hi Mike, this is Art, I am here in Denver and sorry that I missed you. But as I said, if you want to go ahead and get the stuff, then that would be great. And I'll get it sometime next week or the week after or whenever."
Haggard was appointed president of the evangelicals association in March 2003. He has participated in conservative Christian leaders' conference calls with White House staffers, such as Karl Rove, and lobbied members of Congress last year on U.S. Supreme Court appointees after Sandra Day O'Connor announced her retirement.
After Massachusetts legalized gay marriage in 2004, Haggard and others began organizing state-by-state opposition. Last year, Haggard and officials from the nearby Christian ministry Focus on the Family announced plans to push Colorado's gay marriage ban for the 2006 ballot.
At the time, Haggard said that he believed marriage is a union between a man and woman rooted in centuries of tradition, and that research shows it is the best family unit for children.

- It%u2019s not only televangelists who are in it for the money. I remember when I was a child some local preachers would regularly visit needy and or hurting families in their areas and offer comfort and help in many ways. Their mode of travel was often no better than those they were trying to help. To day most are preachers driving ultra expensive automobiles and living in ultra expensive homes and preaching in multi-million dollar churches, financed by their congregation. Many of who go home from church after paying %u201Cties%u201D and doing without things they really need, sometimes even food. I never see them visiting needy folks outside the church. I don%u2019t attend any church any more but I have read the bible a lot and the phrase I recall best fitting these modern day preachers is %u201CThey have their reward%u201D.

Good thing Barney Frank is a Democrat, or else liberals would be upset with him, too.
Isn't it just terrible when a Republican acts like a Democrat

- Right on Rod!! He spoke the exact truth. As soon as we put our faith in any person we are headed toward disapointment. Look at CBS for example. We sure can't count on you guys for an unbiased, truthful look at the current or even past events. You guys are such elitist windbags. I refer to you as the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party. That's one reason you're in third place. The only reason I watch your show is for the musical guests.
As far as the Parsley interview goes, the questions you asked were pointed and leading, who%u2019da thunk it? I'll answer one for you in reference to the hypocrisy matter. No. Having homosexual desires and passions, does not mean someone is a hypocrite if they don't support gay marriage. Are you a hypocrite, persumable being straight, if you do support it? As far as his position as pastor/teacher in the church goes, he should have stepped down when he saw himself slipping into this depth of what the Bible deems sin. His congragation deserved better. Of course the timing of the allegations is somewhat suspect. Who%u2019da thunk it? As I alluded to before, we are not even close to being perfect...not a single one of us. That's why Christ had to intervene. - Reply to this comment

I used to be one of you right wing nut jobs. but I couldnt deal witht the fact that I was f'ed up and didn't feel right putting on a show.
I fail and stumble all the time, but i dont try to play it off like i'm a perfect person.
i don't condemn anyone to hell, i just feel strongly that someone who puts themself out there in the public and then everything that they teach is total bs. how many people do you think will abandon their faith because this jerk led them there and then bailed on them.
im not liberal or conservative - i just dont care anymore because everyone is playing a game. we all just need to be real instead of bandstanding on these fake moral facades. - Reply to this comment

"While I think what this so-called preacher has done is despicable, I can't help but wonder if Agnim doesn't "protest to much"?"
LOL
We protest because the homosexual deviance is ravaging and undermining the western/christian societies precisely because the societally worthless behavior has its genesis in the very churches of sodomy that is being two-faced about homosexuality.
If we were protesting from generations ago when children were first being sodomized and traumatized by christians in their churches of child sodomy, then this homosexual deviance wouldn't have spread so horrendously across western/christian societies.

- aardbear! When righteous people hold themselves above everyone else when it comes to moral's, they are bound to be made fun of when they fall back into the cesspool their righteousness has created! They claim all the rest of us should follow their example! Well, I think I will pass! I am not a religious person but I do know right from wrong! Which I hate to say it. But the average Christian in this country doesn't! A lot of them were ardent followers of the immoral Bush (the last time I was in church lying, cheating and stealing were big time moral infractions)! Choosing to ignore his blatant moral infractions so they could impose their value's on everyone else! Now it's come back to bite them in the butt! Eventually the chicken's always come home to roost!

- Written long before this breaking news: Check this out on People for the American Way website: "Haggard was one of those called by White House before President Bush announced his choice of John Roberts for the Supreme Court. Haggard says the White House called to reassure him about the selection and said that Roberts would have respect for precedent but that precedent would not have the same weight as the Constitution itself. In fact, Haggard talks to the President or his aides every Monday and is a frequent visitor to the White House."

- I continued to be amazed by people who make excuses for the behaviors of those in the public eye. Haggard and his career in itself make it so he should be accountable. Jones admitted he was motivated by politics. He is not out there trying to hide who he is. Haggard on the other hand admits he bought drugs and paid for *** but didn't partake of either??? C'mon... We've been there, we've done this...it's all too familar. NOW that he has been "outed" he is going to seek spiritual counsel and guidance. I suppose he wasn't aware he probably should have sought it before this became public knowledge. He does have a responsibility to be above reproach if he's representing in the christian arena.
It's ironic that some politicians and "people of the cloth" feel they shouldn't have to be held accountable for their own moral and ethical beliefs and behaviors....yet get to create laws that govern our lives and "preach" to the general population on how we should be living. - Reply to this comment
- The unnecessary public confession of this filth-stirring f@ggot evangelist is yet another proof that **** deviants are sick, mentally mixed up, confused, and conflicted lost souls.
Does the world really needs to know the deviant details of this f@ggot's family SHAME! NO!
All that this sick f@ggot is doing is to bring more shame and humiliation to his family, and especially to his children who will be ridiculed to no ends. - Reply to this comment

- Wow, talk about ***. This guy is the leader of 30,000,000 nuts. And it looks like they are all going to rally and, "faith their way out" of this scandel as they do others. They are absolutely correct....people are just people and nobody is perfect. But most folks don't profess to hold the moral high ground. It seems that all the folks that hold the moral high ground lately are having a heck of a time getting up into the gutter. Maybe that's why there has always been Zero accountability for their actions. Faith healers, snake oil salesman, and the religious right. Birds of a feather

- Oh yes, I forgot. One day Clinton was absolutely a liar and deviant and now he is a superstar??? Has anyone questioned why this man, after receiving all this money for favors all this time is suddenly opening up? Strange how the worms come out of the woodwork right before something big like an election or other??? A prostitute is not arrested for prostitution and a man to solicits a prostitute should also be arrested. They are to me both in the wrong and need to pay for their crimes instead of the prostitute being on television/radion getting loads of money out of this. How ironic a situation eh?

- He is only human after all. I attend church not because of a mere man or woman but to hear the word of GOD. I attend because I am sinful and have major or minor faults. Church is for sinners not the pure and who is pure? Nobody, not even a pastor or minister. No human being is untouched by sin. He is at fault for his great sin and will pay for it but am I going to judge him. Not I. I know that the Catholic church and many other churches have had their sinful pastors and other things go on, we all have to remember that it happens in schools, government offices and just plain every day life. Why do you think he is any different from any other human being? He too can be tempted and fall and when you are a pastor or minister you fall harder and deeper because human beings love a big scandal. They love it when something bad happens to a good place like church. If there are torturous lifestyles in a war ridden place like Iraq or Iran or even Africa in general nobody blinks or even cares!!!! There is far worse crimes happening all around the world and here we are in America living free and high and mighty. We think that this man who is going to pay dearly for his sinful nature is so horrible. Think about all those children, men and women that are continually tortured, raped and butchered in Africa or Middle-Eastern Countries.
Get off your high horse and get real! No human being is untouched by sin. No one, are you so great and true in your thoughts???? - Reply to this comment
