Many dogs like the water and many like to fetch and, Early Show resident veterinarian Dr. Debbye Turner reported Tuesday, the increasingly popular competition combines the two.
Six years ago, a company called DockDogs started running events for dogs that love to leap, like one Turner attended in Millerton, N.Y.
The competitions feature dogs jumping high or long to try to retrieve objects. They do it over water and wind up in a pool. The dog that leaps highest or longest wins, depending on the type of event.
This year, there'll be more than 120 competitions across the nation. There's no prize money at stake. The dogs and their owners do it just for the fun of it.
