Farrakhan, 73, said he began suffering pain earlier this year similar to 1998, when the Nation of Islam leader was diagnosed with prostate cancer and later underwent surgery.
Doctors discovered an ulcer in Farrakhan's anal area during a visit to Cuba in March, Farrakhan said in a letter dated Sept. 11 and published in the Nation of Islam's "The Final Call" newspaper. He said he has since lost 35 pounds while battling "serious infection and inflammation."
Farrakhan said he will work hard to recover "because I do not believe my earthly work is done."
He said he asked his executive board to solve problems during his recovery, calling his absence a test that the Nation of Islam is stronger than any one individual and will live on "because it is rooted in an idea that comes directly from Allah (God) Himself."
Farrakhan compared the challenge to the situation in Cuba earlier this year, when Fidel Castro relinquished power due to illness.
"While many rejoiced — believing and thinking that if Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution expired they could move Cuba and the Revolution in a new direction — his absence from the helm only proved that Cuba will not fall apart over the absence or passing of their illustrious leader," Farrakhan wrote in the letter.
He also warned followers to be "ever watchful for any smart, crooked deceiver and hypocrite who would create confusion over my present condition."

- You people are so backwards and ignorant.....And this is in part, why we are seeing the demise of Western civilization as we know it. Your hatred of Farrakhan only pulls the cover off what is truly in your own heart/s.
Farrakhan is loved throughout the world and in 1995 made a call to Black men in America to come to Washington DC in an effort to atone bad deeds and almost 2 million answered the call...........and you never even stopped to ask yourself why or to properly examine why he is so popular among the masses of the world's populations.
Your arrogance blinds you.
Farrahkan can never die! I say this to say, the spirit and idea of Farrakhan can never die or be killed...so if his (Farrakhan) flesh leaves this earth...we do not worry or faint for millions of more Farrakhans are born!!!
By the way.........Look up the meaning of Farrakhan.

- For criticalmind.....here is a quote that racist Louie made : In April 1997, while on "Meet the Press", Farrakhan was asked by Tim Russert:
Tim Russert: "Last year you gave an interview to Henry Louis Gates, a professor from Harvard, in New Yorker magazine where he asked you whether you still subscribe to the teachings of Elijah Muhammad on Yakub, a Black scientist who 6,600 years ago created the white man, and that by the end of the 20th century, a spaceship will come and rain down upon white people and people who don%u2019t embrace Islam. Do you subscribe to the teachings of Yakub, that Yakub, the Black scientist, created the white man?"
Farrakhan: "I subscribe to every word that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us."
Another:ASMAN: One of the parts of the old world that you suggest, what happened in 1927, that levees were purposefully blown up to decimate the black population in New Orleans. You said the same thing might have happened again. We just had on one of the engineers who, in fact, the man who you quoted, who says that, in fact %u2014 John Barry %u2014 who says nothing like that, in fact, happened. First of all, in 1927, the levees weren't destroyed in black populations, they were in white populations, so you got the 1927 story wrong, but also there is no sign of levees having been blown up during Katrina. - Reply to this comment
- Sorry, I am with Chillin2206 on this one. I do not hate Farrakhan because he has not said or done anything to upset me. Have whites been racist, prejudicial and murderous towards blacks over the years? Clearly yes. Things are getting better but not at the pace that Farrakhan would like. As for 'bashing whitey', just when was he supposed to have done this? Not in the last ten years I bet. Infact I lsitened to Farrakhan and he is far harsher in his words on feckless black fathers, sexually promiscuous women, gangbangers and lazy black 'excuse makers' than whites. Get well soon Farrakhan. By the way, I am male, white & Jewish.

- To chillin2206......We hate the man for what he says and what he represents. He on the other hand, hates because of color/origin or religious belief. And I for one am so tired of the constant complaining by people of color that "Whitey" is holding them down or prejudice against them. Most white people are just trying to get through their day the same as everyone else and most of us don't give a thought to color until someone like Farrakhan comes along and speaks as he does, with hate and intolerance.

- I am both appalled & disgusted at the comments regarding the serious illness of Louis Farrakhan by subscribers. You accuse Farrakhan of hatred but hate yourselves but cannot spot the hypocrisy within yourselves. Farrakhan was/is controversial but have you asked yourselves why? Farrakhan has never been arrested, is married, a good husband & father, and one who speaks on behalf of a people who we have treated disgracefully then feign ignorance when confronted with this unpalatable fact. Get well Farrakhan, you are a decent principled man.

- Amen!
He will be sent to hell for what he preached. Just another racist thug who preached hate and we can only pray that those who are like him meet the same fate that he is.
It is right and fact, had a white person been so outspoken against any race we would have been slaughtered by the media, jailed by the courts, and our names so badly smeared we would never see the light of day ever again. SO tell me ...who really are the racists. The white peoples problem is that we don't play our own racist cards the way everyone else does but we should. We have been publically and privately discriminated against and our civil rights eroded to "please" other races, but noone cares about that. We have stepped back for long enough. - Reply to this comment
- you idiots that think Farrakhan's death should mean a holiday for "whites" are as ignorant as he was...believe it or not, our races can and do live in peace...agitators like farrakhan and all racists deserve the same fate, a slow and PAINFUL DEATH...as for hell, if you wanna believe that place exists think again, we are in hell right now...

Nah you want to advertise you post somewhere ? you want to be someone what if you don't get known , you are known among your family , now do you really need to make other people share your faith or your habbits? Can't they just have theirs , can't we shares things together like games ?
Laws , we should shares and support in the goal that mankind continue to evolve and grow in respect of earth, and preserve the ressource for the future as well as find cures for trouble, food is something important , health , food , knowledge isn't so much mandatory, because you can impress people with your prophet , now what if you don't want to believe a story wasn't made up :x Storytellers well news report we see things happen from a point of view :x

- I'm so happy to hear that this hateful monster who has spent his life spewing hatred for white people is so ill.
I hope the man dies soon, and with much pain. And I hope when he gets to meet his maker, his maker will shake his head and sigh heavily as he tells Lousy Louis that he must stand outside and look inside for all eternity. Because no man or woman of God, no matter what you may call Him, can be so hateful and openly bigoted.
If I, a white woman, had spent my life saying HALF the horrid things this "man" had said about the white folk, I'd have been tarred and feathered....which is exactly what I wish we could have done to this militant, hateful man. He deserves every bit of discomfort he has waiting for him.
Go one, lose more weight, buddy, why don't you lose that big fat mouth of yours, next!!!!! The day his voice is silenced forever should be a white holiday!! woo hoo, can't wait to hear the news!
He is a shame to his race, everyone will be so relived to see this nasty windbag removed from this earth in a body bag. Amen, I say, AMEN!!! - Reply to this comment

- antymom,
I do not like Farrakhan either -because of his racist remarks- but you sound like you are a Judeo-Christian nutcase, are you really? You think other religions are just waste of time and followers of them will go to hell? Is that what you think? I am appalled with how bigotry has penetrated into Christian communities, thanks to some brain-dead ministers like JOHN HAGEE and ROB PARSLEY. - Reply to this comment
- I think that we all must pray for this wise man's longevity, especially black people. If Allah were to take this beautiful gift of a man from us, the world will suffer a loss. I pray that this strong warrior carries on. I love Minister Farrakhan.
