(CBS) Surveys say Americans see much more rudeness these days than they used to.

So The Early Show consumer correspondent Susamn Koeppen figured an investigation was in order.

With hidden cameras rolling, actors were very rude, to see what people nearby did.

The actors spoke way too loudly on cell phones, littered, and let "their" kids run wild in public.

You may be surprised how people reacted!

Koeppen also chatted with etiquette expert Peter Post of the Emily Post Institute who, among other things, offered tips on what do to if rudeness ventures near you.
