(CBS)  Actress Leah Remini, a close friend of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, says the couple has every right to keep their baby out of the public eye.

Unlike other celebrity parents, Cruise and Holmes have yet to release an official photo of Suri, sparking discussions in blogs and tabloids about their reasons for keeping their daughter out of the public eye.

"I think it's really scary," she said in a new interview with E!Thursday. "It's their baby, you know what I mean? Unless you've been in a situation with these paparazzi, I fully support to not take your baby out in that environment — I support people who go — look it's my kid, I don't have to show you a picture, I don't have to do anything."

The "King of Queens" star is one of the few people who claim to have met Suri, who was born April 29, 2006. Cruise's ex-girlfriend Penelope Cruz, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett have all spoken to the media about their visits with Suri.

Remini says that there's nothing mysterious about Suri.

"Suri is just like every other baby," she said. "She pees in her diaper, she sleeps, she wakes up every couple of hours. This is what babies do, OK; there's nothing abnormal about her."
