(CBS)
MTV announced today that Shakira and pop band OK Go have been added to list of performers at the Video Music Awards. The Colombian superstar joins a list of other hot stars including Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
Chicago band OK Go will perform a live rendition of their low-budget Internet sensation "Here It Goes Again." The video for the song, which shows them gracefully dancing on treadmills, became a hit on YouTube this month. Within 48 hours of its posting on the site, it received half a million hits. They will perform the song live for the first time on the VMAs, which will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. ET.
Famous faces such as Axl Rose, Lindsay Lohan, Kanye West, Paris Hilton, Diddy, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Pussycat Dolls and 50 Cent have been added to the presenters list.
It was previously announced that Panic! At the Disco, T.I., The Killers, Ludacris with Pharrell, The All-American Rejects and The Raconteurs are confirmed to perform at the awards show, which will be hosted by Jack Black.
Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Chris Brown, Fall Out Boy, Rihanna, Jared Leto of 30 Seconds To Mars, Busta Rhymes, Shaun White, Ne-Yo, Missy Elliott, Cast of Jackass, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Lil Jon, and Nick Lachey are also scheduled to appear. Additionally, Borat (aka Sacha Baron Cohen) and comedian Sarah Silverman will make special guest appearances.
MTV said that for the first time in awards show history, the network will expose fans to backstage antics. While the show is airing live, the network's broadband channel "Overdrive" will air "VMA Live: Backstage Uncensored," a live view of the behind the scenes action. MTV Mobile will also offer updates and recaps of the VMAs within minutes of the broadcast.
