Tony Shalhoub

Tony Shalhoub is best known for playing the obsessive-compulsive detective Adrien Monk on the USA comedy "Monk." Shalhoub is also executive producer of the show.
After earning a master's degree from the prestigious Yale School of Drama, Shalhoub joined the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass.
He moved to New York City, where he later received a Tony nomination for the Broadway play "Conversations With My Father."
He made his television debut in 1986 as a guest on an episode of "The Equalizer." He joined the cast of "Wings" in 1991 as cab driver Antonio Scarpacci.
In 1996 he co-starred in "Big Night" with Isabelli Rosellini. Other film credits include "The Imposters," "The Man Who Wasn't There," "13 Ghosts," "Against the Ropes" and "The Last Shot."

Shalhoub has played Monk since 2002 and earned Emmys in 2003 and 2005 for the role. He's nominated again for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy in 2006.
