(CBS)  Former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland announced through her record label that she is not pregnant.

A Sony BMG press release issued Monday said that "statements attributed to Kelly regarding her alleged pregnancy were never made by the artist and a purported interview with the AMG never took place."

The rumor began when posts were made on several Internet forums more than a week ago signed by someone calling themselves "Keith Slogan — AMG (amgmusic.com)." The poorly-written posts said Rowland told AMG about the pregnancy and quoted her as saying the pregnancy was a "surprise."

The London Daily Mirror ran a short article a few days later in its 3 AM gossip column using the same quote of Rowland.

That article was picked up by Web sites around the world, fueling the rumors that Rowland was pregnant.

However, a check of the Web site "amgmusic.com" reveals nothing more than a page of text ads and search results.

Rowland is busy with her solo career and is looking forward to releasing her second solo album, "My Story — Kelly Rowland" early next year.

The album was originally slated for release in June of this year, but was pushed back for marketing reasons, according to Rowland's manager, Mathew Knowles.

"We want to make sure our marketing strategy is a multitiered approach that capitalizes on the synergies afforded by her other projects," Knowles told Billboard in May.

Rowland said the new album has a more urban sound then her debut solo album.
