Colin Farrell: 'Rehab Was Horrible'

Collin Farrell says he's beaten his drinking problem, but it wasn't easy.

"I knocked that on the head, I haven't had a drop in six months," the Irish actor said Monday on The Late Show With David Letterman. "It was tough. It was something that I did every day for about fifteen years so it was tough, yeah, absolutely."

The 30-year-old actor said that he decided to get help when he realized his fast-paced Hollywood lifestyle was taking its toll on him and affecting his ability to be a good father to his two-year-old son James.

"I was just juggling so many things. I've been on such a mad trip for six or seven years, that I just had to step back and have a look at my life," he said. "Having my son, as well, was the primary reason. I just wanted to be there for him. I wanted to be clear, be around him, and remember being with him."

Farrell checked himself into a treatment center in December 2005 and was released in January 2006. He said that being in rehab had its good and bad points.

"It was horrible in one way, because I went away because I was pretty sick," he said. "But in another way it was great, because it was a very safe environment with a bunch of people who were looking to sort out things in their life."

"But I don't want to go back," he added.

Farrell probably also appreciated the lack of drama on the Letterman set - a marked contrast to last Thursday, when a woman who has sued him twice jumped on stage and confronted him at a taping of "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."

The actor obtained a restraining order against Dessarae Bradford, 31, the following day, requiring her to stay away from him, pending an Aug. 16 hearing before a judge. The order also protects James and James' mother, Kim Bordenave.

In a note posted on her website, blessedadventurepub.com, Bradford claimed that she's not stalking Farrell, because she's "too self-absorbed to ever stalk anyone."

Bradford filed suits in December 2004 and July 2005 against Farrell, both of which were dismissed.

She re-filed a suit in Federal District Court in Los Angeles in May for ten million dollars, claiming that Farrell stalked her through phone messages and email during a six month period in 2004.

Colin Farrell has become an unwitting muse for Bradford, who has self-published the book "Colin Farrell, A Dark Twisted Puppy" and recorded an underground house song called "Colin Farrell Is My Bitch."

The song's explicit lyrics also mention actor Alec Baldwin, for whom she wrote a separate book, "My S/M Romp With Alec Baldwin."
