The Early Show 2006 Road Trip! We traveled the country giving away dream vacations! See where we've been and who got surprise getaways.
tour stopped in Salt Lake City on Wednesday to give away another surprise vacation.
Thanks to a letter to The Early Show from Susan Peart,
Richard and Chris Christensen received the surprise of a lifetime.
Peart wrote about her brother and sister-in-law and about the tough couple of years they've had medically and financially. Peart says she wanted the couple to be able to get away and join the rest of the family in Seattle for their nephew's upcoming wedding.
Meet the surprised vacation recipients"They're really good people and they've had some illnesses that have been really tough for them. We just love and appreciate them so much. I wanted them to have this nice vacation," Peart said during the live giveaway at Olympic Cauldron Park -- site of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
The couple traveled from Goshen, about 80 miles away, thinking they were in town to meet with a lawyer. Instead, Dave Price surprised them with a trip to Seattle ... and much more.
Dave Price takes part in a little fun with water sports at Salt Lake City's Olympic Cauldron Park. The Christensens will be staying at Seattle's beautiful Fairmont Olympic Hotel for five days and four nights with breakfast every day and dinner at the hotel's award-winning Georgian Room.
The Fairmont will whisk the couple away on a float plane to Washington State's San Juan Islands to go whale watching. Then, the hotel's executive chef will take them on a special visit to Seattle's famous Pike Place Market. Airfare is courtesy of our "Great American Vacation" travel partner, American Airlines.
The couple was quite moved by the surprise, which now allows them to attend the wedding they though they would miss.
"My wife, several years ago, had a brain tumor and had a lot of trouble with that. And last year, I contracted West Nile virus and almost died and had kind of a long recovery," Richard said. "I just want to thank my family and friends... you just never know. Everybody came out and fed our livestock and took after our yards and really help during our recovery.
