Magazine Introduces Shiloh Nouvel

(CBS)  Ever since the arrival of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's new baby girl two weeks ago, celebrity watchers have been salivating for their first look at the star couple's bundle of joy. The wait is finally over.

People magazine has the first exclusive photos of Shiloh Nouvel in their issue, which hits newsstands Friday. The Early Show entertainment contributor Jess Cagle, People magazine's editor at large, spoke with co-anchor Rene Syler about baby Shiloh's introduction to the world.

"Little Shiloh has blue eyes, kind of fair hair like her dad and then these lips like her mom … often newborn's lips are swollen. We'll see if they stay like Angelina's lips," he said.

According to Cagle, Hollywood's most talked-about couple seems to be very grounded.

"Considering who they are, and all this attention, they look like a very normal, happy couple," he said. "And Brad looks, you know, so happy about this. He once said on television that little girls just break his heart."

Pitt's first child, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, was born May 27 in Namibia. She was delivered by Caesarean section and weighed 7 pounds at birth.

Cagle also addressed reports that the photos, which show Brangelina cuddling with a peacefully sleeping Shiloh Nouvel, cost People magazine a pretty penny: $4 million.

"$4.1 million is the figure that's been thrown around and that one is wrong," he said. "However the editor of People, Larry Hackett, who actually got the photos, has not told me exactly how much they cost because he knows I have a big mouth and you could get it out of me."

Cagle said that it's not unusual for magazines to pay for celebrity photos. "Like everyone, we do pay for photos," he said. "We don't pay for stories or interviews."

Pitt and Jolie sold rights to images of Shiloh Nouvel through Getty Images photo agency and said that the proceeds would be donated to charity.

"The money in this case is going to children's charities in Africa," said Cagle. "We're going to let you know in the coming weeks on People.com and in the magazine exactly which charities the money is going for."

People magazine's picture of Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt surfaced on the Internet yesterday and both People and Hello! magazine, which bought the British rights to the photos, are taking legal action.

A "community blog" called culturekitchen.com posted a Hello! magazine cover with a shot of Brad and Angelina with the baby.

In Namibia yesterday the celebrity couple made its first public appearance following the birth of their daughter. At the press conference, Brangelina denied wedding rumors to local journalists.

"They seem to have no plans (to marry) right now," Cagle said. "I always thought they would and now I'm not sure. I think that his adopting her other children and having this (baby) is probably a much bigger step than a ceremony for them."

Jolie, 30, has two adopted children: Zahara, 1, and Maddox, 4. Both had their surnames legally changed to Jolie-Pitt after the actor announced his intentions to adopt the children.
