And, in The Early Show's "Chic on a Shoestring" Wednesday, Glamour magazine's executive fashion editor at large, Suze Yalof Schwartz, proves you don't need to spend a lot to look fantastic. She shows how to update this traditional summer look using the latest accessory trends.
In "Chic," expensive "splurge" outfits are shown along with much more reasonably priced combinations called "steals." It's often hard to tell the difference.
Schwartz says brights, neutrals and gold are "in" this year for accessories.
LOOK No. 1: WHITE AT WORK
We all have the classic white button-down and white pants. If not, you should. Throw on this season's thick gold chain necklace, a neutral suede bag and brown clunky shoes to make it new.
Steal:
Top: Brooks Brothers $75
Pants: Gavin Pant $195
Necklace: CRAFT $38.00
Bag: H&M $50
Shoes: Aldo $39.50
Grand total: $397.50
Splurge:
Top: Theory $185
Pants: Theory $225
Necklace: M&J Savitt $800
Bag: Devi Kroell $1150
Shoes: Bettye Muller $365
Grand total: $2,725
The difference: The Theory skirt has a better fit, and the expensive necklace is made of real gold.
