Johnstone was just 10 years old when she started playing the piano at her home in Maine. By 19, she had moved to Los Angeles to collaborate with the city's top producers and musicians. It was the start of something big.
For more than 20 years, Johnstone wrote songs for some of music's biggest stars, including Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Bette Midler and Johnny Cash. In 2002, she decided to take the stage herself, recording the critically acclaimed album, "Coming of Age."
Johnstone appears on The Saturday Early Show this week in her national television debut, performing from her new album for the Second Cup Café.
