According to a report in People Magazine, which quotes Hunter's publicist, the 47-year-old actress has given birth to twins.
The children would be the first for Hunter and her partner, Gordon MacDonald, a British actor whose U.S. credits include "The Thin Red Line" and several episodes of "Law & Order."
Last winter, he and Hunter – who began her career on Broadway - were both in the cast of the Irish play "By The Bog Of Cats," onstage in London's West End.
Hunter won a lead actress Oscar in 1993 for her role in "The Piano" and has appeared in dozens of films including "Broadcast News," "Raising Arizona," "Miss Firecracker," "The Firm," "Always," "The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom," and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
