(AP)  Oprah Winfrey's private jet was forced to return to the Santa Barbara airport following a mid-air collision with a bird.

Neither the talk show diva nor her boyfriend, Stedman Graham, was injured in the incident that occurred shortly after takeoff Monday afternoon.

The GulfStream jet will be grounded until the windshield is repaired.

John Ahlman of the Santa Barbara Fire Department says it's not unusual for planes to collide with birds.

In August 2000, a KLM Airlines jumbo jet made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport after a bird strike damaged an engine on takeoff, causing pieces of it to plummet onto a beach just west of the airfield.
