(CBS) Record gas prices and an increasing interest in preserving the environment have motivated consumers to search for affordable and clean transportation alternatives to the family car for getting around town.

In recent years, innovative companies have been developing modes of transportation that promote monetary, fuel and environmental conservation.

Best Magazine Senior Editor David Gregg brought several of the new-fangled personal transportation vehicles to The Early Show Friday.
