The Scoop On Renée And Kenny
Well, she had him from hello.
At least, that's what he said in his hit song.
Of course, we are referring to Oscar winner Renée Zellweger, who wed country music star Kenny Chesney in a surprise Caribbean ceremony on Monday.
Entertainment contributor and People magazine senior editor Jess Cagle visited The Early Show to talk about it and show exclusive pictures of the private affair.
As for how their romance began, Cagle reports, "They met Jan. 15 at the tsunami benefit. Renée Zellweger was answering phones, and Kenny Chesney was performing. And she told a couple of friends, 'Oh, Kenny Chesney is really interesting to me. I may send him a note.' I think a couple of people told him she was going to send him a note. He walked up to her and said, 'Look, if you're going to send me a note, don't let the principal find out.'
"They had each other from hello. At that point, they exchanged numbers and e-mails and started this sort of long-distance relationship that became a real romantic thing."
But it wasn't just the principal who was kept in the dark about their relationship. "Renée Zellweger is surprisingly adept at keeping her private life private," Cagle notes.
