Jackson's Dad: He's Too Trusting

\His Mom: Charges Ridiculous; Both, And Accuser Video, On 48 Hours

(CBS)  Michael Jackson's father says his son is too trusting.

In a recent interview with Daphne Barak, Joe Jackson says it might have been a good idea to have a father-son conversation in which he advised the pop star "not to trust nobody…because Michael trusted a whole lot of people. And the ones that he trusts -- hey, that's a problem."

Michael's mother, Katherine Jackson, tells Barak she's angry. She says the molestation allegations against Michael are "very painful. I know my son, and this is ridiculous."

They also said they believe Justin Timberlake got off too easily for his role in their daughter Janet's infamous Super Bowl halftime wardrobe malfunction last year.

The interview was conducted recently at the couple's Las Vegas home. It was seen exclusively on 48 Hours Saturday.

The broadcast also featured exclusive video of Jackson's accuser. Jury selection in the trial is slated to start Monday.

The accuser, now a teenager, claims Jackson molested him while they were together in the singer's bedroom. His claims will be backed up at trial by his younger brother, reports CBS News Correspondent Troy Roberts, who reported the story for 48 Hours and previewed it on The Early Show Friday.

Roberts was told by Bill Bastone, editor of TheSmokingGun.com, "The little brother, to me, is actually fascinating, because he seems to have the ability to recall details of things that take place."

Bastone has reviewed transcripts of police interviews and grand jury testimony in the case.

In addition, Roberts reports, there is the evidence seized during the searches of Jackson's Neverland ranch.

Jackson's lead attorney, Tom Mesereau, is barred by the court from speaking specifically about the Jackson case, Roberts explains. But his confidante and occasional co-counsel, Jennifer Keller, is not.

"From what I understand," Roberts remarks to her, "this young man's story, the young accuser's story, is rich in detail, and it's consistent. Doesn't that trouble you?

"No," respond Keller. "It doesn't trouble me a bit. There have been many, many examples throughout history, including to the present day, of children making richly detailed allegations that turned out to be false."
