Barrino showed The Early Show co-anchor Rene Syler and weatherman Dave Price how to do her trademark move and performed live.
“Crazy” is how Barrino describes it has been this past week for her. “A lot of love from a lot of people and just doing a lot of press,” she says.
With the song, “I Believe,” Barrino says she has received a lot of positive feedback from her new fans.
She says, “A lot of people come up to me and say, ‘You encouraged me when you sang that song and made me feel a lot better. And I feel great when people tell me that because I always want my songs to encourage somebody.”
Taking Syler back to that day when she heard her name as the “American Idol” winner, Barrino says all she could do was cry “like a baby” and did not care one bit she had broken her shoe after jumping with delight.
“I sung with that one heel,” she says. “I broke my necklace. I didn’t care. I said, you know what, it’s cool. He said my name and it scared me because I said to myself I been through a lot of things but I made it.”
As the winner of "American Idol," Barrino has won $1 million recording contract and a new car.
“A Ford Focus,” she says to be specific. Her new single is coming out June 15.
The finale of the show produced 65 million votes for Barrino and runner-up Diana DeGarmo -- a jump from last season's finale, which brought in 24 million calls, helping Ruben Studdard edge out Clay Aiken by 134,000 votes.
